Need some OT watch recs

I have searched previous threads. Wanted to get thoughts on watches in the 5-6K range. Caviat is I live in a city that does not sell Omega, Brietling... So would have to go out of town to be serviced or to a 3rd party jeweler.
I have been looking at the Rolex Oyster Perpetual - around $5700. Looking on the internet, seems I could find it a little less expensive on some www. Thoughts on buying online and any recs on whether to be willing to buy a watch that couldn't be easily serviced in my hometown.
TIA

Too bad you don't want to look at Omega. This is my current favorite.

Rolex is the only watch you want.
Try Rolex Forum and buy from a trusted seller if you are looking to save a few bucks.

There are too many mistakes to list. Just take my word and stop posting for a bit....say, a half decade.

First off it's a gift from my parents - I would never buy a watch this expensive. They also specifically said they wanted to buy the watch and not give me the money since they know all I would do is save it and let it compound interest for 30 years.
They have raised me right as I could never understand spending that much on a watch but if they want to give me a gift then I will accept.
I am open to other watches - I am still interested in Omega - esp the Seamaster.

Nothing like spending $6K to be like every other person that could only afford to buy one really expensive watch.

You sound like someone who is not nerding out on watches. The only answer is Rolex or Omega then. Both are quality and both are perfect for a novice watch guy.
Rolex you will have to shop around for the previous body/case style to afford a SeaDweller or Submariner. Omega is wide open to you at $6K.
Want to go off plan a little? Bell & Ross. Breitling.
Choose slowly. You're spending somebody's $6K on a watch. A piece of man jewelry. If it doesn't make your dick move looking at it don't buy it.

Been wearing a tudor black bay lately. Love it. I wear mine on a nato but you could put it on nice stainless bracelet if that's your thing. My only complaint is no crown guards.
Rolex subs are cool, especially if you can find a good vintage example but it seems like every $55k/year millionaire is wearing a submariner lately.
Apart from vintage subs my favorite watches right now are the Tudor Heritage Black Bay, gilt dial if you can find one. RESCO gen 1 patriot is a close second, although it's a little big if you're a small guy. I'm really like the Armida A1 with the Miyota 9015 as a budget watch. I think they run about $700 and are fricking awesome at that price.

Buy a Suunto and use the extra $ for something useful.

His advice is not bad at all. My cousin used to work for Tom Benson at Pontchartrain bank. Whenever he would meet a new loan officer he would look at his wrist watch. If it was anything other than Timex, Bulova etc. he would give them a lecture on the future and present value of money.

iDk Ruzil. I paid $3k for my Sea-Dweller in 1997. It would sell for around $5500 today and a new one is over $8k. There are certainly worse ways to spend money.

Rolex was my first nice watch. I have owned Omega planet ocean, IWC and panerai since then as well as another Rolex. None of the others have held value anywhere near the Rolex at least for the short term. Luckily I bough the other ones in 2008-9 when the economy was pretty bad. Now I try to buy lightly used as I know I will flip them

Get an Explorer I and wear it every day until you die. It'll look a lot better than you will.
