Moving to Houston

Got a job opportunity I can't pass up, so I'm packing up the family and we are heading to Houston. We will be looking for a house somewhere on the north side, likely between The Woodlands and Spring. I've been through the area, but never payed much attention so I'm not very familiar. Where are the better areas to live through there? I know The Woodlands is nice. It's a bit congested for my liking, I'd prefer to be on the outskirts. Suggestions?

The Woodlands is not that congested compared to central Houston.

Will you be driving into Houston for work or working around the north side?

what area of Austin do you live in now? are you trying to find something similar to that?

Klein is a really nice area. Good schools, and nice homes for what you pay. The homes tend to be older though.

Beware of houses for sale along Spring Creek and the other one that crosses Louetta and N Eldridge (can't remember name). That area was flooded with the 7,000" of rain that fell in April. Other than that, use Trulia and check out the school districts. We are contemplating the same move and I have family in the immediate area. Good luck

I live in Cedar Park now and would love to find a similar area.
I'll be bouncing between hospitals for work, on the northeast side. I'll primarily be north of 610 between 45 and 69. There will be times I have to go into Houston and down to MD Anderson, but that should be infrequent.

Chck out neighborhoods off Riley Fuzzel/Grand Parkway, east of the Hardy Toll Rd.

Might be joining you shortly. Too much traffic and bullshite in Austin.

This^^^
The top schools for the NW area will for sure be Klein, 2 new KISD schools opening up in years to come, The Woodlands HS, and College Park HS. The opening of the Grand Parkway will continue to bring new home developments also.

The Woodlands is where you want to be for great schools and amenities. If the main area is too congested, look at the area zoned to College Park High. You can either be on the Northern or Southern outskirts of The Woodlands in that zone.
