What does this even mean? As if there's some debate?

Are you being edgy or snarky? Like it's cool now to say MJ wasn't the best ever?

I guess there as re crazy people out there.

As if LeBron won a title every year in his prime. He's not even in the discussion for top 3 winners. Magic, Russell, Jordan.

An elite defender would mean he is one of the best in the league. He isn't. I have defended his defense against people saying it is bad. But calling him elite is just as bad

So Collin is saying that the NBA doesn't have an award for the BEST player in the league that season?

People get too caught up in the wording of the name of the award.

No, he isn't. He is in the 5-10 range for defensive point guards. A good solid defender is what Steph is

He's one of the best PG defenders in the league but just like basically every PG in league history he doesn't have elite impact on his team's defense compared to bigger guys who are able to more consistently affect the opposing offense.

No he's not and his coach doesn't think so either. There is a reason he didn't guard Kyrie (when healthy) in the finals last year.

Edit- The same reason he wasn't guarding Lillard last night. Yall are saying he's an elite defender when he never guards elite players.

He's got some incredible defenders on his team with him. That doesn't make him a bad defender. His first assignment coming off a knee injury was chasing CJ through all sorts of screens last night and he was excellent at it.

For example, I think Mike Conley is the 2nd best defensive PG in the league, but if I am deciding who I want to guard someone like Steph I'm throwing Tony Allen on him.

Draymond, Klay, and Iggy are at the upper echelon in terms of defenders.

I agree with everything you are saying but I never said Curry was a bad defender I'm just saying he's nowhere close to elite. Curry's defensive metrics are inflated by how good his team is defensively and the fact that he usually guards one of the weaker offensive players on the opposing team. Curry is a solid defensive player.... Nothing more nothing less.

For the MJ Goat lovers....Check the Bulls record with and without MJ

(1990-1991) 61-21
(1991-1992) 67-15
(1992-1993) 57-25
(1993-1994) 55-27
(1994-1995) 47-35

(1995-1996) 72-10
(1996-1997) 69-13
(1997-1998) 62-20

Bulls stayed the course..they didn't win the ship those 2 seasons, but they still had successful seasons and were +.500 records (MJ played in the 2nd "off season" but they didn't reach the finals)

Didn't MJ come back at the end of the season in 1995?

Last year top 10... Really?

LeBron and MJ by themselves can combine to show 5 better seasons than what Steph did this year. Last year? Not even top 50.

uh oh

so there we have it. when compared the career bests of these five absolute all time greats, steph currys 2016 seasons either is better or similar to in every single category.

It may mean the same as Kawhi being a system player according to KD.

You quote me saying his season last year is no where near top 10. Last year was 2014-2015 season. You then linked a thread about his 2015-2016 season which you made then quoted yourself giving your opinion as if it's a act

i could have just quoted all of the stats but i thought what i did quote kind of summed it all up. and that not opinion. what i quoted was fact. do you know what opinion is? opinion was when i said if he gives us a five more seasons like this and the warriors go on a long title run, hed be in the conversation for GOAT. stating that he is either better than or similar to every single career best stat for the other players isnt opinion because its just statistical fact

He's 6th among PGs in defensive real +/- and it looks like about 12th or 13th in defensive box score +/-.

Now he is first in defensive win shares for PGs, but you were one that argued against using that earlier in the year for Kevin Love (who is 17th).

I think putting it altogether he is probably around the 5th or 6th best defensive PG. So he's very good, and probably underrated relative to the perception, BUT to say that he is an "elite" defensive PG is a stretch.
