I have learned that if you want to find out the true nature of a person, put them through a divorce. Most of the time the people that come in for divorces want nothing but to cause the other party as much pain and devastation as possible.

Get an ethical person that knows the law. Doesn't matter if they are male, female, both, neither or conflicted, gender-wise.

Nancy Sue Gregorie is the best, but she's super-expensive and usually doesn't accept new clients unless you have a connection

don't get into much contested stuff b/c i just can't deal with people when they get into that mental state.

People are obsessed with having a "bulldog" lawyer when bulldog lawyers really just make situations worse. These cases are emotional already and aggressive a-hole lawyers feed on that, the parties get more and more hostile, the billable hours go up Bc there's a fight for every little issue, and then the lawyers go home happy.

It takes a special type of odd person to enjoy that kind of legal work, and women inherently love drama so they do well in that field.

Don't matter. In this state the man has no rights when children are involved.

tends to happen when the guy realizes his wife was sucking another guys dick while he was working 4-10s at night plus OT. I get what you're saying, but if my wife is screwing another guy, kids or no kids, I want the bitch to burn. I'm confident my wife would reciprocate if the tables were turned. I've not known many couples who wanted to remain chummy post divorce anyway.

But, when you get divorced, especially if you have children, you're still going to have to deal with your ex the rest of your life (or until the kids are independent). The lawyer will be long gone, but you will still have to be there to pick up the pieces.

i agree 100%. I have a prepared speech that i give clients. "if you want to go to war, i'm your dude. Just be aware that when it's all over, there will be two happy people and two unhappy people. the two happy people will be the lawyers, because we have all your money. the two unhappy people will be you and her, because we have all your money and the fight did not make you happy."

divorce litigants can get a lot more bang for their buck if they pay their ex more than the law requires instead of paying lawyers to go to war. generosity usually helps dissipate anger, and in the long run, having a decent relationship with your kids' mom is worth much more than most of the stuff people fight over.
