I came to you guys a while back looking for a recommendation on a knife as a gift, and you all pointed me in the right direction.
This time around I'm looking for a knife for myself. I've never actually purchased a knife for myself so my knowledge on what constitutes good or good value is severely lacking.
It will mainly be on me for camping and hiking this summer along the Oregon coast, and used around a construction site. So I imagine it will take a beating.
Just looking for ideas, Tia.

I like the CRKT knives for anything under $100.

Check out the Byrd knives. They are made by Spyderco and are an awesome value. I have one as my everyday carry.

Case equivalent
My grandfather has carried one of these daily for close to 60 years. Has a massive Case collection. Well over 200 knives. He obviously loves Case, and for good reason.

I have the same one and like it. I carry either that or my RAT-1 depending on the situation. Check out the RAT-1 also. It will take a beating and it's only $28.60 on Amazon.

I went through this exercise last year and landed on a kershaw oso sweet. It is ridiculously sharp and seems to be a good value so far. It just feels right it my hand as well.

Got my kershaw cyro at academy for 40 bucks and it'll shave the hair off my arm, well, it used to. Needs a good sharping
