Recommend a bolt action rifle

Im a shotgun guy but want to get back into a rifle (used to shoot a 222 at ground hogs back in the day). Will primarily use it for deer, maybe some coyote. Based on local firearm caliber restrictions nothing larger than a 270 (but from what I know thats lots).
Based on looking around a Tikka T3 seems the way to go but I am open to other suggestions .... now what should I get for glass? This I have no experience w/ and appreciate any recommendations.

Now as far as shotguns I only have one, just a beat up Ithaca featherweight ... all the rest were lost in a tragic boating accident ;)

I really like my X-bolt, but most here will recommend Tikka. Can't go wrong with either IMO

FOr the money, you absolutely can't beat the Savage Axis combos.

I've seen them on sale for less than $300 with scope.

Tikka T3. As far as glass goes, Carson and IGChris are the most knowledgeable.

I have 2 T3's and both are tack drivers, could not be happier, but you really can not go wrong with the major mfr's, go wqith what feels right to you, .270 is a great caliber for what you are describing

how much are you looking to spend on glass? meopta gets a lot of love around here, i did not care for the one I looked through. go to a store with a good selection and be sure and look through a vortex and pick what you like

Some people need reading comprehension.

Good choice. Ruger American is another to look at. Browning A-Bolt, but it might put you in a higher price category.

Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 might be one to consider.

I went through the same process a few years ago. I went with a Tikka T3 Lite in .270 over the savage because it felt better to me. Can't go wrong with either, IMO

definitely this. But caliber depends. I love my 270wsm, but it's not necessary by any means. Probably a 270 or 30-06 just to keep ammo prices down.

I'd buy a stainless REm 700 in .270. I'm not a Tikka fan boy either but these somb's around here are. SEcond choice, Win Mod 70. IMO, the cheaper Rugers and Savages feel as such, as did the Tikka I handled. And that accutrigger looks cheap.
