Zephyr Field Among Finalists for SEC Baseball Tournament
Hoover is also submitting a bid, so it's not a definite that the tourney is moving.

Memphis, Nashville and Jacksonville are among the other cities bidding to be the postseason event's new home after 19 straight years in Hoover, Ala., and 20 of the past 21, when teams visit Hoover Metropolitan Stadium next month.

I always thought redbirds stadium in Memphis would be nice for this. Pretty centrally located, great stadium, and no real home team advantage.

I think it's a foregone conclusion it is leaving Hoover.
I still think some sort of rotation would work best.
There are plenty of nice parks in the SEC landscape that could host it.
New Orleans
Memphis
Nashville
Pensacola
Biloxi
etc

Should move to the Barons new stadium in downtown Birmingham - great facility.

Just get it the hell away from Alabama. Would be great to see it in NO except for the possibility of fans being murdered.
Memphis or Nashville should get the nod IMHO.

Biloxi has a brand new stadium. That would be a nice place to host it.

Three great locations... and Jacksonville.

I get that Nola is awesome, but the actual location of the stadium sucks compared to Memphis, Nashville and Jacksonville. Where you can walk around and do stuff in the area before and after and during the games. For people wanting a change for those reasons, I dont think Nola is a good option.
eta: The Barons stadium would also be a better choice

You're worried about crime yet you suggest Memphis.

The only plus to having the tourney at Zephyr is that it would be easier for more LSU fans to attend.
There is nothing else about Zephyr which is more attractive than the other sites named as finalists.

New Orleans - stadium is comparable to Hoover, not sure if RV parking would be available, absolutely nothing of interest from a tourist standpoint (hotels, restaurants, etc.) walking distance. (Forget the shopping center across Airline!)
Memphis - fantastic stadium in heart of downtown Memphis. Walking distance to plenty hotel rooms, restaurants and Beale Street. From what I'm told, parking could be a problem, especially for RVs.
Nashville - brand new, gorgeous stadium about 7 blocks from hotels, restaurants and music on Broadway. Don't know about parking situation.
Jacksonville - new, gorgeous stadium adjacent to Jaguars football stadium. I'd assume plenty parking for cars and RVs since football stadium is next door.
Personally, I'm for rotating the tourney between SEC East and SEC West venues and would vote for Memphis and Nashville. SEC Tournament is sort of like a bowl game trip and it would be nice to go somewhere with some night life.

From what I've been told by the Gumps, Barons stadium is too small (8,500 capacity) and parking is an issue downtown.

Would love to see it rotate different SEC venues. Most stadiums in the SEC are large and nice enough to accommodate a tournament.

Parking is only an issue if you are lazy and dont want to walk. But theres a brewery (or two? not sure if beer engineers ever opened up) that is literally right across the street. So that makes up for having to walk all the blocks imo.
Every time I've been there its been cake. However, I will say that it is probably a different dynamic if youre having a mid day game during the weekday. As Ive only been to the stadium at like 7 pm, so obviously the traffic/parking dynamic is different.
I wont totally discredit it as a valid concern but without doing some research of midday traffic and parking patterns, Ill remain skeptical.

WTeverlovingF ?????
You DO realize that Zephyr Field is in Metairie, right ?????
Also, Tourney fans going to NOLA are not going to be 'murdered', or even experience any crime..UNLESS they happen to be gang members or drug dealers in the inner city crackhouses - where 90% of the murders happen....

Nashville or bust. Brand new badass stadium, amazing city built for big events, centrally located.

Zephyr Field is great but too far from anything of relevance. Jacksonville sucks. Memphis would be great and central. Nashville is the new Austin.
If placement isn't a major concern then why not throw in places like Charleston and Pensacola.
