Good. Private business owners should decide what goes on inside their establishments

Second hand smoke is completely harmless.

It is one thing for someone to not like the smell and not want it around them, but it is not a health risk.

Give it time.

Like segregation, the ban on women on juries, and legal cockfighting, the right to smoke in bars shall also fall, but Louisiana will defiantly be the last to give in.

I miss cockfighting.

I've never been a smoker (relatives have died from lung cancer), but I've spent the last 17 years or so becoming a professional drinker (relatives haven't died from liver cancer).

Aside from a few places in BR that bartenders can easily choose not to work at, I don't notice a smoke problem large enough to bother legislating, even as a clean air advocate.

Bars are bars. If you don't like tobacco smoke I'm sure that there's a coffee clatch somewhere... Maybe at a Starbucks or some other local coffee shop. But bars are- and should always be- where people do their dirty business of smoking and drinking. Bars without smoking are where bureaucrats go to act cool and frick them...

DISCLOSURE- I smoked until 18 months ago. Bars are not restaurants. Smoke away.

The second hand smoke is hazardous is a foolish notion tonise for bars, even if true. Alcohol is hazardous too. Glad it failed.

Is there no compromise to be had? Here in Fayetteville, which is as "progressive" as just about any city in the south, we have smoking bans in restaurants or bars that make a certain percentage of their income from food, but if a drinking only establishment wants to allow smoking then it's their choice. Are they trying to pass an all out ban on smoking in any indoor public setting?

Damn. I was really hoping to huddle around a heater with 15 other people during the cold of winter.

“We’re not going away,” Rhodes said, adding that her coalition will make voters aware of which council members “denied thousands of people clean air at work.”

is she going after local refineries also?

Also funny that all those employees have a choice in where they decide to work

I don't like GOVT telling businesses what they can do...and yet I like smokers even less. It's quite the conundrum.

Smoking cancer sticks inside a bar full of other people while consuming copious amounts of liver and stomach poisoning alcohol and eating things no one should eat in large quantities while on a variety of medications and then driving home?

Completely legal.

Sitting inside your own home, smoking some pot, and taking a nap?

Federal pound me in the arse Prison sentence
