For posters on here who have a boy and a girl, is mom harder on the girl and dad harder on the boy or is one parent the strict one while the other is the one?

No, I treat them equally. It's not my daughter's fault that she is s perfect Angel that has never done wrong.

We vary on the things we are stricter on but when push comes to shove I'm the terminator and she's all talk.

My son and my daughter get treated differently in different situations and the same in others. It's all situational.

Yes you are correct. Mom is harder on her and dad on the boy.

This.

This gives the kids an adult to confide in.

I guess theoretically the Mom could be the bad cop....nah.

This. But it's mainly due to their ages & maturity levels, not as much gender. Maybe when they hit puberty and the hormones start flowing, but when they're young, they're pretty much the same, just diff maturity.

As for parenting styles, I'm around them all the time, so my tolerance for jackassery is much lower than my husband. He's the king of "if you do XYZ one more time..." while I'm threatening the yardstick because we surpassed our minimum number of chances hours ago. It's funny, we talked about parenting styles before kids, and he always threw out the hard arse rhetoric, but he's a pushover for their innocent routine.

I have one of each.

The boy is older so I'm usually more strict on him because he should know better.

However, both of my kids are extremely well behaved so we don't have to crack the whip much.

I have 2 girls and 2 boys and it's hard to be tough on the little girls when they look up at you with those doe eyes....but the boys, yep, I'm putting my foot in their arse if they step sideways.

Yeah 3 1/2 year old girl and 5 month old boy. I'm the more strict one on the girl as her mom doesn't want know how to be the parent and say no.
