My experience with Jasper was that they were fishing for every house they could find and having claims filed with as many insurance companies as they could, whether legit or not. It was shameful and unethical. I see them as nothing but crooks.

Alvin Ballard dude did my roof....would HIGHLY recommend...badass roof, worked me way below my deductible with upgraded architectural shingles....left in the morning with crap roof, came home to a new looking house....have not found one nail and dealing with him was a breeze....I had to call HIM to come get his final check....by far, the best experience and I've had 3 roofs changed in my lifetime...in the unlikely event this one gets damaged again and he is still working and not golfing full time, Lenny will get my business....top notch

Roofing has evolved into this quasi insurance adjustor profession, it's crazy. When they get your insurance company to pay for an entire new roof instead of patching a spot, or roll through your neighborhood after a minor storm claiming everyone needs new roofs you STILL end up paying for it.

I have a friend who is HS girls soccer coach that got into it one summer after a tornado came through.

He banked and didn't left a finger except to say "go here illegal Mexicans" and claim insurance. Not a scam but it's a lucrative business to be on the insurance claiming part of t b

I know I need a repair on about 300sq ft. They want to reroof the entire thing

Contractor here. It often happens where an owner wants to "patch" their building. Often times, I don't want to put my name on or warranty their "patchwork". I usually kindly decline the opportunity of submitting a proposal.

You don't put new roofing on three of the faces of your roof and leave three with the old roofing. My insurance company tried to screw me and the roofing company held their feet to the fire and made them do it right.

FIFY

Make sure they are insured people.

After they give you their proof of coverage, call the broker it is written through to confirm the policy is still in place.

NO money up front.

You generally get what you pay for. With roofers too.

If it's too good to be true, it's going to be a problem.

On a related note, what's a good ballpark # or range per square on shingle replacement with architectural grade asphalt. I'm trying to guess at what I need to budget. I try not to waste contractor's time on quotes until ready to pull the trigger.

Every roof is different, steepness, how cut up the roof is, how many valleys, drip edge, etc.

correct

understand that a residential shingle roof is completely different from a metal or commercial built up roof. I don't do any residential work and if I have a commercial building with a shingle roof, I call Garcia
