Why are some fans wasting Simmons' entire tenure complaining about him?

The dude is basically averaging 20-12-5 a game and has brought in talent with him (Blake, Sampson) along for the ride that will be here next year and beyond.

Not to mention that he's brought A LOT of national media attention and fan support that did not exist in the past. I wish I could do an economic impact chart to show how much money he's brought into the university this year.

Anyway, he's got his flaws sure, but I promise you, next season (and beyond) you will be begging for a player of his caliber to come to Baton Rouge. Try to enjoy what you have while he's still here instead of complaining about his few deficiencies.

If you are the band Europe, you enjoy a final countdown. It's what you do.

If you are a poster on the Rant, you bitch about everything. It's what you do.

A lot of the complaints seem to be centered around not winning more with the production he's given.

It's baffling that people are bitching about a true freshman. Were they expecting a polished player right out of high school?

Blaming a true freshman for the team's deficiencies is a bitch move I don't care who it is.

much like Jamarcus, people love to blame the guy when he doesn't reach whatever ridiculous explanations they personally had for him.

If he scores 20 a game, but gives up 50 pts in the paint, I'd say we lose every game.

He scores 20. How many does he give up? My bet is its very close to 20.

I mean honestly for me, he exceeded my expectations. Watching him the first couple games, I didn't expect him to be much of a scorer, but he's ridiculously polished in the post for his size and skill set

And he has shite ball security, and spends 1/4 of the game complaining and looking like an upset child

I'd say a large % of the people knew nothing of the player he is (some still don't see to get it), only the hype behind him.

Any basketball mind can look at the guy and not only see the potential, but the skill he already has. Hence being the #1 overall pick.

I would hate to see what posters would have said about Shaq if TD existed then.

There's little to be thankful or appreciative of when we're consistently getting run out of the gym by 15+ points.

What fricking games do you people watch? Gives up 50 in the paint? Simmons is FAR from LSU's worst defender. Victor can't guard anyone without fouling. The perimeter players do nothing more than virtually escort guys to the rim for layups. When they aren't doing that they are just losing wide-open shooters.

Yet, Simmons is supposed to simultaneously block every shot from the weakside AND close out on shooters AND keep guys from getting position in the pain AND put up double-doubles every night AND score every basket down the stretch ALL while not fouling AND playing 40 minutes?

The guy is putting up an overall stat-line never before seen in SEC play, and having to do it basically on his own. Have you watched LSU's half-court offense? It is a close to pick-up basketball as you will get at this level. Guys just make lazy cuts to nowhere in particular. Rarely does anyone know when or where to set a screen. They don't have any place in particular to go after setting the screen and far too often two guys end up bumping in to one-another in the same spot. Simmons will get the ball on the block desperate to set up a teammate for a good look, yet when the double-team comes, 4 guys just stand around the perimeter looking at him. No cuts. No moves to an open spot. Nothing

The fact that they can score as many points as they do is really a testament just just how individually talented some of the players are. They are virtually a rudder-less ship out there and yet Simmons is still in the top 5 in the SEC in 5 different categories (PPG, RPG, APG, SPG, FG%). But sure, let's hang everything on that kid!

I'd rather have a 3 star player with "want to" than a 5 star player without.

Pistol Pete is a great shooter and scorer, but he takes too many bad shots and turns it over too much. Do we need all that showboating. And as great he is supposed to be, why don't we win more? He's not a leader and doesn't want it enough.

Looks like this thread was started with good intentions but will quickly devolve into a free for all for all the morons to drop their trash opinions.

All I want to see is a little more effort and passion on the court. He's playing for himself, not his school. I love the attention he's bringing us but if this kid tried to win us a few games instead of getting his nightly double double then we would be in a better position to make the tournament and possibly a run.
