You put in 1%, COP gives you 9%
and CVX gives you 8% for 2%
and CVX gives you 8% for 2%

My company matches 150% up to 4% of salary and then 100% up to 6% of salary. Best company match I've ever been part of.

That's what I'm talking about. That would be sweet.

The benefits at the supermajors are pretty amazing all the way around.

I too am a solo practitioner. Do you mind me asking a question? If I do a 401k to place pretax money and match it, do I have to match the same percent of contributions for my employee(s)?

Ya, any time these come up its usually oil companies.
So I guess it all makes sense now. With high pay and high 401ks comes booms and busts.
Gotta take the good with the bad.

My company does base 6% match and profit sharing which can be up to another 4% added to my 401k. The last couple years the total match has been averaging 8% .

Full to 5% and then half to 10% is the best I've ever seen personally.

My company will put in 7% even if you don't contribute. They will match 50% up to 6% as well
Posted on 2/17/16 at 8:19 pm to HeadyMurphey
6% here with profit sharing of 2.5% I believe

Not sure dragon, solo 401k I think is only for biz for no employees (although you can do spouse). I think a SEP can be done with similar limits but not sure.

the best 401k match I have had in the engineering world is this:
100% match on 3% of your salary
50% match on the next 3% of your salary
25% on the next 3% of your salary
So if you put in 9%, you got a decent 5.25% raise.
Usually the discretionary profit mach was like another 2%.

That's pretty awesome. My wife's work will match up to 6%. I thought that was good.

I have an 100 percent match up to 8 percent of my salary.
Posted on 2/18/16 at 11:08 am to anc
My company gives 3% off the bat whether you participate or not and then matches 50% up to 8%. So if you max it out at 8%, company gives you 7%. Not too bad....

My company contributes 10% of employees annual salary into 401k regardless of whether the employee contributes or not
Posted on 2/18/16 at 12:00 pm to Hoyt
My old company used to match dollar for dollar on 401K contributions with no cap. It was still that way when I left the company in 2008 to finish my degree and, lucky for me, I had just rolled my 401K into a money market before the market crashed that year. Not sure if the old man that owns the company still does that or not. There were at least 3 of us that put in the max and he never once mentioned not matching it.
