The Warehouse District, hands down. Lived there for five years... best time of our lives. Absolutely fantastic place to be.

There simply cannot be a Mrs. Rex.

Only one year? Warehouse district or Uptown off Magazine would be your best options imo

For one year only. To enjoy all the city has to offer with extreme convenience...I would look lower garden or warehouse.
To live out my days...Jefferson Parish.

Since your wife is the one making the decision and is less likely to want to live somewhere moderately dangerous.. I'd say Uptown or on the edges of Uptown.
CBD has some great apartments if the apartment life is what you/the wife are into.
Mid City is the best answer though because Uptown is $$$.
If your wife is into threeways with college girls:
Uptown
Zimpel
The Boot
...
Profit

State Street / Henry Clay area

CBD is taking a turn for the worse as far as the people who live there. Lot of fake arse women and roided out guidos taking that area over...also rent is about 25% more than an already overpriced market.
Uptown is your answer. Find a spot in this area: between Louisiana, Magazine, Napoleon, and St. Charles.

I love living in mid city. 5 minutes from down town, walk to the park, festivals on the bayou, relatively cheap. The Laffite Greenway makes getting downtown really convenient.
I know it's probably not feasible but a green belt to uptown would be great.
