I was woodcock hunting with BigHoss this year, we both shot at a pointed bird at the same time and it folded. Banded woodcock was laying on the ground. I told him to claim it...

I've killed 2 banded birds.

Has anyone ever seen a banded cormorant before I go any further?

Was one of two shooting at mallard in tichnor.
Killed a black belly that was banded in Texas the year before I think in 2010.
Killed a banded speck last year hunting with just my dog. Had 5 ducks in the blind and had only shot 5 shells. Pair of specks got up a few cuts over and I called them right in. Jumped up and folded both but one of the shook it off. The one that didn't was banded. He's mounted via Steve German. One of the best hunts of my life.

3 mallards, 1 teal, 1 mottled,, 2 specks, 1 canada. Actually I give credit for the mottled to my dog. We were walkin in from a scarych hunt and he took off into the grass, came out with a banded duck.

4 mallards (3 in the last month) & 1 blue wing. 2 mallards banded in Alberta, 1 in Saskatchewan, 1 in California. Teal was banded in ND. The mallard that was banded in CA was shot this New Years and was banded as an adult in 2004. It was also summering in CA which I thought was odd.

I killed 1 banded woody over the levee in BR years ago. And 1 banded bird that shall remain nameless.

Never called either one in.

Also, I was hunting Wallace Lake south of Shreveport and had a flock of water turkeys fly by and could clearly see a band on one of them. We shot like hell at it after we saw the band, but it was too far by that time.

The other banded bird was killed at Spanish Lake near BR in the 90's.

Bands – I have 4 canada geese, 1 mallard, 1 black, 1 redhead and 1 teal
Of those 2 have interesting stories – the mallard was a greenhead that was 10 yrs old when I shot him – originally banded in MN. I didn’t know mallards lived that long and he was shot with about 5 min left in legal shooting time, he didn’t get to be 10 by being stupid.
Three of the geese bands had consecutive #s and I shot them with 3 shots (sometimes its hard enough to kill a Canada w/ 3 shots). Story goes I was duck hunting w/ an uncle and a flock of 20 geese come at us, we switch to BBs and when we shot I drop 2 stone dead w/ 2 shots in decoys, the 3rd I hit really hard but its wounded and dog is after him. My uncle wounds one and he goes after his own bird. My dog brings back the cripple and then the 2 dead birds. Because of how they fell we knew who shot what birds – all of mine were banded xxxxx-15, 16 and 17. I don’t know if I shot them in order ;)
My uncles bird no band. The birds were all juveniles and banded in upper NY about 100mi from where we hunted earlier in that year. I talked to a USFWS service buddy and he had heard of a pair of consecutive bands shot by one hunter but never 3.

Only one that I know of. Mallard banded in Saskatoon with botulism transmitter imbedded in its back. Also, a banded snow goose. I don't remember where, but that sucker was old.
