That sounds like a problem with the minority students.

Glad we dumb our education down to the lowest common denominator.

I scored a 29 as a soph, never took it again and dropped out of college after 3 semesters. ACT don't mean shite. I know a guy who I tutored to get an 18 just to get into ULL and he is now a financial advisor and doing great.

Again, don't mean shite.

And yet with free education from 1st grade through 4 year universities, they still find a way to wind up on food stamps and working at Taco Bell.

I scored 20. I then went on to earn a degree in Finance in 3 years.

I'm sorry, but qualifying for TOPS should not be this easy. Raise the standards. At least make kids have to work for it.

It should be the following:

24 for whites
22 for white Hispanics or Latinos
20 for African Americans.
26 for Asians.

TOPS needs revamping, the ACT to get the highest level of TOPS needs to move up a good bit. You can get the highest level of TOPS yet not meet admission criteria at many private schools.

Aren't there enough minority/raced based scholarships already?
No need to make TOPS into another one.

One of two things needs to happen here because people are going nuts with TOPS:

Either make an income level cap of the parents to make it a way for lower income families put their kids into trade school or college, or -

Raise the ACT scores and stiffen the curricular prerequisites so that not every child graduating high school qualifies for this. A 20 on the ACT is a freakin' joke, and most of the prereqs are as well.

It was never designed to be a free for all like it's turned into.

Is Callier saying minority kids are dumber?

Asian kids think otherwise.

I scored a 20 and I think I'm pretty smart. I'm very good at math, pretty good at the sciences, but pretty bad at the English stuff like creative writing and reading comprehension. There are lots of people that can get an average score but excel in their field.

They've tried to raise it before, but they were told raising standards was racist.

Since this discussion is borderline affirmative action/reverse racist anyhow, why not just go 24 for white kids, 25 for asians, and 20 for blacks

I made a 36 in the 7th grade. Does anyone think that they revise the threshold up under Edwards?

Act is dumb AF, I out performed tons of people with better scores than me. That being said I was also an honors student and I did score higher than a f'ing 20
