But Carroll was better than 5 games over .500 in his 3 seasons with New England. It was his one year with the Jets, before going to the Patriots, that sour his record.

i really dont think it matters who the coach is...as long as he is an above average X's and O's guy and he has good discipline with his players, he can be very successful at LSU with our recruiting base.

I want us to do anything necessary to get Muschamp back.

I don't understand the logic of trying to find a guy who you think is going to be here for a long time. If that's the best man for the job, then the fact he'll be here a long time is icing on the cake. But, if you told me we could get a coach for the next four years who is likely to bring us to the SECCG every other year and compete for a national title while here, but he'd be gone after those 4 years, then I'd rather that coach over the "up and comer" who is going to be here 10 years if things pan out.
My personal choice, despite his past with us, is Tuberville. The guy has gotten it done at Auburn with Alabama to compete with for the best recruits, and he would be coming here to retire. That satisfies both of the above qualifications...the best candidate available and likely to be here for a long time.
All of this, of course, is contingent on Miles leaving. I'd really prefer Miles to stay because I think he's got a great thing going here. If he doesn't get the Michigan job, I have a feeling we won't be having a head coaching search for a long time.

fwiw, being reported on Michigan Rivals board that Kirk Ferentz has been offered and accepted the HC at Michigan...presser to be Monday.

I will LMAO if Kirk is the HC and we are stuck with Miles and then Gill is offered the HC job at Nebraska.
