Rocket, it must have been too green!!
No way they give the job to someone else ahead without even contacting Les.

I don't miss seeing those press conferences, I tell you that much. I feel about 2-3 years older after sitting through that.

it's non-premium content, so i guess it's ok to post. i won't put any stock in it until i see something in some mainstream media...although Nick's buddy Chris Landry's supposed comments might be somewhat telling, if accurate. here's some Ferentz chatter:

quote:

According to a source with the Iowa Athletic Department. Kirk Ferentz has been offered and accepted the Michigan position.

quote:

There was a meeting between Gary Barta (Iowa A.D.) and Ferentz earlier this week. Barta let it be known that he wanted Ferentz to make changes with the Offensive Coordinator and would pressure the Defensive Coordinator to retire. Ferentz refused and held firm.

my favorite line is below...anyway, since google can be a friend apparently Christensen is the owner/operator of Game Day Iowa. he has a booth at Hawkeye games and sells apparel and what not's.
he posts sometimes on the Iowa Scout board (as gamedayron, where he doesn't always receive a warm reception) if this is indeed the same guy referenced below, fwiw.

again, until some hard news is reported it's all foder.

quote:

The source (Ron Christensen) is usually rock solid and never lies.

Skip hired a very good coach at the "second school" in the state the past two times and has been pretty successful. I think he will try to do the same thing again.

before you think "LSU man" for the job, think about Jerry Stovall, Doug Dubose-Alabama, and Rocky Felker-Miss State

I like all of the high profile coaches who have proven something. My dad comes out with this the other day, "You know who LSU should look at, Doug Williams. He would bring some high profile black athletes in to LSU." I quickly turned it down, but you never know.

Would we really want Spurrier and would we really have a shot. . . . Our golf courses are not as nice as South Carolinas. I would love to have the killer attitude and arrogance but is it really a shot.

26. Bill Cowher, retired

I heard from a source in "the know", and he said that Bill Cowher's agent contacted LSU and said that he is very interested in the LSU job. Just looked up his stats, and he has no college coaching experience. He's one of the best coaches of all-time though. I would take him. Might need to throw a lot of $$$ at him.

I'd be happy with Cowher. Or Del Rio, from the NFL.

Cowher's record is outstanding. I think Del Rio is a younger version of Cowher - and he's 15 games over .500 in the last 4 years.

Both win with defense, and without big name players. They win games without stars - they don't rely too much on one player. That's important in college, where you have a constant turnover of players.

I heard that too. It was right after I took a bunch of acid and declared war on the state of North Dakota.
