e.g., Kelly, Central Michigan?

Kelly went to Assumption.

Concerns with him wouldn't be returning to an Alma Mater, but when the NFL comes calling in a couple of years after he's one of the elite college coaches.

This dude is a straight winner and will ride his next job to an NFL stop...

I'd love Rodriguez.

Please no Jimbo Fisher. And no Bo Pelini...make him the highest paid defensive coordinator and keep his arse there.

I'd pay Muschamp more to come here and be DC over Pelini.

WV put in a 4 million dollar buyout last year after he flirted with the Gumps, so that might take him off the list.

LSU needs either a "Louisiana" guy (e.g., Del Rio?) or a guy whose alma mater or roots would not be as big of a draw as far as coaching destinations go (e.g., Kelly, Central Michigan?).

I strongly disagree. I don't think that's how Lombardi, O'Keefe and the boys should go about finding the next coach if Miles leaves.

I mean, I understand where you're coming from......and all of that but I don't think we should write off really good coaches to get coaches who fit your description.

Oh yeah, I'd much rather Muschamp. Although I really think it was mostly Saban in charge of those great LSU defenses. The Auburn defenses have been solid under Muschamp, but not what the LSU defenses were when he was here with Saban.

We look like a stepping stone job.

What is wrong with being a stepping stone job?

Miami was a stepping stone job during the past 20 years.

Howard Schnellenberger who won the first N.C. for Miami lasted 5 years.
Jimmy Johnson won a N.C. and lasted 5 years.
Dennis Erickson won a couple of N.C. and lasted 6 years.
Butch Davis didn’t win a N.C. and lasted 6 years.
Larry Coker won a N.C. and lasted 6 years.

Being called a stepping stone job is meaningless.

Being called a winning program is what is important.

You find the best coach period. You don't say "yea he's an awesome coach, but he'll probably win here and then move on to the NFL." so the frick what? As long as we continue to win I don't care if we have to change coaches every year.

I have a feeling this guy wont be as hot after Pat White and Steve Slaton are gone. Sometimes players make coaches, and I think this is one of those cases. Obviously he is a good recruiter to get those guys, but they could be superstars on any team.

I think that's what Emmert and the boys did with Butch Davis back after they canned DiNardo.

What about Mike Singletary? He just turned down the Baylor job b/c they weren't going to do what it takes to win a national championship.

What exactly has Del Rio done to distinguish himself.

His teams always win.. make the playoffs ... he reminds me of Bill Cowher if he stays with Jacksonville he will win a ring eventually.

I wished Jim McMahon would have gone into coaching. Sporting those sunglasses on the sidelines would be vintage '85 Bears look.

To be honest with you..I don't know why but I like Harbaugh.
