Couldn't watch the Packers/Vikes game but highlights already up on youtube so meh.

To coincide with the digital reg that went in effect Jan. 1st nbc apparently made a "money grab" telling Cox et.al, pay according to Cox "significantly more" or else, and removed their channel from providers that didn't pony up with more money.

The "or else" is fine with me, nitwit broadcasting corp can stay off the air as far as I'm concerned.

I believe its just the Baton Rouge NBC station. The last NBC show I watched regularly was Seinfeld so I'm not really missing them.

Does Vitter still own that one (and Fox 44)?

I don't know why or how you still have it, but nbc pulled their channel from cox Jan. 1st, I don't have them regardless if through my converter box, mini box, or through just a cable connection, there is only an informational video from Cox explaining the situation.

But that's ok with me, don't like that "nitwork" at all.

It figures though that nbc would be the "broadcast" channel that would take advantage of the new digital regs in effect and take the opportunity to "price gouge".

Apparently abc, cbs, and fox are ok with their current deals though, so nbc can stay off the air.

But If you do still have an nbc affiliate through cox,or whomever, then expect to see an increase in your cable bill, as they pass the network's "significant increase" on to you.

Vitter no longer owns WVLA. He never owned WGMB. They've both changed hands since he owned 33.

As soon as they agree on a contract with COX they'll be back on the air. I doubt they'll be off of the air through the week.

We're missing Seth Meyers. That's what we're bummed about. And that new Super Store show is hilarious. But, other than that, no big loss.

Doesn't matter to me if it's wvla and kzup nbc affiliates that are going "rogue" which I don't think is the case, or not, by demanding a big fee increase to re-transmit, NBC network still doesn't have to pay to broadcast, their "air" is still "free".

Basically this is the situation; NBC spent tons of money lobbying to get the regulations passed that went into effect Jan.1st, and NBC affiliates are taking advantage of the new regs to make a money grab, so the heck with them, their programming is crap anyway.

Never thought about it.

If NBC were taken away would I miss it?

I will give The Voice a look every now and then when it is on? But that's all I got?

Their news girls are the hotter of the 3. But that's local Houston. Not national.

WVLA and Cox are playing hardball. This has got to be the longest a local station has been off cable, right?

If you want NBC in the Baton Rouge area just plug in an antenna. I don't understand why they would try to price gouge cable for something I don't even need cable to get.

NBC has consistently sucked arse for the past few years. Gone are the golden days of The Office, 30 Rock, Community, and Scrubs.

I usually wouldn't watch them but I'm missing Blacklist because of these idiots.

And also screw Cox for acting like pissy girls whenever someone rate-hikes on them when they do that crap every month to their customers.
Then make a little box so you have to pay per TV to keep getting what you had free, oh but "Woe to us if a local station asks for more money."

The Blacklist returned tonight. I'm guessing a lot of people missed that.

Didn't Cox do the same thing with CBS last year?
