Or maybe...he was hoping to find a school loaded with talent where his limited but solid skill set would be a perfect fit....MAYBE that is why cam wanted him in baton rouge.

Or maybe Cam knows LSU needs QB depth.

But hey...why not shite on the kid and the idea that he could give us options....its what people like you do. .

And why not "shite" on the kid who was already here, whose stats are as good or better than Etling's and against much better competition. Whose winning record is much better. Who chose LSU out of high school when he had many other options. Like people of your ilk do. And you also call him unintelligent and incapable of using his brain to play QB. In other words intellectually inferior. Yeah, you are travelling the high road.

amen to that. I think we have a four way derby in the spring with Harris probably being the favorite to win it just due to experience and talent, but get a strong push from Jennings, Eitling, and McMillon. At least we have options this year and one of the 4 could emerge as a talented QB who could lead this team to a winning and succesfull season.

Not sure why this argument has to be so god damned negative. I think Etling was in a bad situation and could have a chance to improve in a better system for his abilities here. However, he's going to be competing with Harris, who will also be striving to improve. I really just hope Etling and Harris can push each other into both becoming better passers for the system that we run.

DT or PP.....makes no difference, Our "system" will kill any talent or intelligence said QBs will bring with them.

Yea let's just plug a new body in there. Let this merry go round continue of shuffling qbs around. BH has taken his lumps and he will make the jump next year whether u like it or not.

should the more veteran player play or the better player?

if harris is better than etling then he should start. if he's not, then he shouldn't.

Find me one person who disagrees with that. The point is some are claiming it beforehand with nada as evidence. Actually all statistics and evidence says the opposite.

actual statistics also say harris isn't much of a dual threat QB at all.

He is very accurate, something Harris struggles with at times. He was running for his life at Purdue. If LSU oline stays basically intact there is a very good chance he will be the man in 2016. Decent protection and we've got us a good QB to go with the ground game. May be a very good year coming up. We shall see.

Potentially 3 new starting QBs in 3 years

Oh the life of an LSU fan

You do know that during the 15 years of the BCS era, 8 pocket passer and 7 dual threats won BCS championships, right?

Oh really.

'98 Tenn Tee Martin 2442 passing, 306 rushing. you calling him dual threath b/c he's black? PP

'99 FSU Chris Wienke PP

'00 Oklahoma Josh Heupel PP

'01 Miami Ken Dorsey PP

'02 Craig Krenzel PP

'03 Matt Mauck PP

'04 USC Matt Leinart PP

'05 Texas Vince Young DT 6'5 230lb qb, one of the best in college football ever

'06 Florida Chris Leak PP (Tim Tebow pretty much a RB that year)

'07 LSU Matt Flynn PP

'08 Florida Tim Tebow DT 6'3 245 qb, one of the best in college football ever

'09 Alabama Greg McElroy PP

'10 Auburn Cam Newton DT 6'5" 245 qb, one of the best in college football ever

'11 Alabama AJ McCarron PP

'12 Alabama AJ McCarron PP

'13 FSU Jameis Winston PP just b/c he's black and athletic doesn't mean he's automatically a dual threat. H threw for 8,000 yards in two years and rushed for less than 300.

'14 OSU any of the 3 DT

So looking back 17 years, we had 4 dual threat QB's win the national championship, and 3 of them were all time great college qb's who were enormous and athletic.

Can you show me where you're finding all these dual threat qb's winning national championships?

Matt Mauk and Matt Flynn ran a lot more than people give them credit for.

Flynn had 100 att in 2007 and Mauck had 97 in 2003.

Now looking back at the stats its hard to tell if they count sacks or not. I think they do. But i am not sure.

I see you purposely left out that Tee Martin had almost 200 attempts rushing and 15 plus tds rushing in his 2 starting years. Also Winston was a DT coming out.

Just FYI...bolden could have very well given us more than Jennings or Harris. Also....don't despair...after watching miles trot JJ out there game after game...you have nothing to worry about. Miles loves him some DT qb. Which is precisely the reason he will be fired after this year.

I don't know why anyone would downvote healthy competition at the QB position.

Probably an exact, 1:1 ratio between those who would downvote this thread and those who think losing 3-5 games a year and never contending for championships again is just fine.
