Any insight will be helpful. Thinking of going next year but was wondering if that's a good time of year to go compared to the summer.

Really, really crowded. More so than summer. Be prepared.

I would have to believe it would be crazy packed. Hot as shite around here during the summer. I would just pick some random time in January-March.

Well, compared to the summer the weather will be much nicer, but it will be PACKED.
You will wait at least twice as long for everything. I've done it once. Had a good time, but expect to wait in long lines. It is nice to see everything decorated.

We went the first week in January. Not crowded at all and all the Christmas decorations are still up.

It's really not worth it going then. The place is Insanely packed.

took the family there between christmas and new years...... NEVER AGAIN
this is the busiest time of year. they actuall stop allowing people into some of the smaller parks as they reached their fire marshall capacity limits...

Been 3 times from Dec 26-Jan 1.
Go Jan 2 and half the crowds, much more enjoyable.

That is the single most crowded time of the year.

This is both the most crowded time of the year, and the most expensive. Every day after Christmas day leading up to New Year's Eve, gets progressively more and more crowded.
I love Disney, but one area where Disney falls short is large crowds. When Disney gets really packed, the entire system breaks down. They only have so many buses, employees, etc. They can handle things until about 85 percent capacity. Once it gets beyond that, though, they have no additional resources to throw at it, so stuff just comes to a standstill.
There are really only two benefits - the parks stay open very late, and the weather is nice.
If at all possible, try to go the week before Christmas, or the week after New Year. Even if you could go like Dec 19-26th, that would not be too bad, just the very end of the trip would get real crowded.

I've been twice on NYE. Watched fireworks both times at EPCOT. Don't expect to ride very much the week before. If you can, arrive on NYE and stay for several days after because the crowds thin out.
The first year we got to the park in the evening and had a great time leading up till midnight.
The second time we were there all day and it was miserable in the afternoon. All the rides were swamped, and they passed out kazoos that every kid in the park blew constantly. Once the kid crowd died down it was a lot of fun.

Don't do it. You'll be paying hundreds of dollars per day for maybe 6 rides.

Mardi Gras
Just make sure Mardi Gras doesn't coincide with Presidents day. For some reason that is a busy time for them.

Went on Dec. 28 thru Jan 2 about 4 years ago. It was really crowded and they actually closed the Magic Kingdom on New Years Eve at about 6pm! NYE at Epcot was great! But again very crowded. Started drinking around the world about 5pm and it was packed by 10pm. Be sure and get the app to keep up with the crowds. The Christmas decorations and NYE fireworks were excellent, but I doubt I will go again during that time.
