.270. Usually shoot Remington Core-Lokt 130 grain.

Picked up some HyperSonic Core-Lokt Ultra Bonded in 140 grain. Interested to see if there is any difference in results.

Looks like the marketing department at Rem won the "name the new load" contast. "Hypersonic".....that must be faster than supersonic? The quoted muzzle velocity is only 2793 fps. "Ultra bonded"....is that supposed to make the bullet sound especially deadly?

ETA: Good luck w/ the new load. Despite my ramblings, I imagine it'll do just fine.

Federal Prem Ballastic Tip 150gr for '06, rifle likes em, drop where they stand, like others have said no pass thru, usually find mushroom inside skin on opposite side, thinking about changing bullets to get pass thru and blood trail

I'm not that much of a deer hunter but my little man shot his first a few weeks ago. He was using a 6.8 spc with 115gr TTSX.

Dropped the doe in her tracks with a solid through and through with a nice size exit hole.

I have and they are very good from what I can tell. Acurate as advertised. I was worried about penetration but my son shot a 120 lb doe at 110+ with a 7mm 08 reduced recoil. Hit her in the shoulder a little high exit wound the size of a golf ball and dropped her where she stood.

I would recommend.

Given the slightly lower velocity of reduced recoil loads, you'll normally get good penetration at typical hunting ranges; in fact, it's conceivable one mght get better penetration than when using a lightly constructed bullet (e.g. Ballistic Tip) running at much higher velocity. When my son started deer hunting, I loaded up 125 gr NBT's to 2450 fps for his 308 Win. He killed aobut 8 deer w/ that load. All had complete penetration and good blood trails except for one he shot at 50 yds that had a severe angle to us. He put it behind the shoulder so the bullet lodged in the gut w/o exiting the offside flank. I wouldn't have expected many bullets to exit w/ the same shot.

God made a 270 and the 130 grain bullet on the same day. If you change it up you're pretty much a dirty muslim goat fricker.

The best blood trails I've ever had were made by 130gr federal blue box launched from a 22" barreled .270

I'm partial to Berger bullets and shoot lots of small caliber varmint rifles ... coyotes, crows, jackrabbits, pigs , etc ....

my 6BR loves the Sierra 85 gr HPBT , deer can't stand it

Soft points. Will never in my life use a ballistic tip for deer hunting. I've seen too many deer run WAY too far without a good blood trail, because the bullet exploded and did not exit.

i mean i guess they would run off... if you shot them in the hoof

I bought a box of HSM loaded with 210gr Berger "hunting" VLD's for my .30-06 just because I HAD to try them.

Unfortunately my rifle didn't like them at all, I was hoping to get it set up for 600 yards with them, but it looks like the Sierra gamekings took that role. The gun loves them.

Can't wait to get my new scope and start long balling on some plates.

My current go-to rifle cartridge is the 270 Hornady SST in 130 grain. They out shoot the Core-Lokts all day long for my T3 purchased last year. It has three kills with all three deer dead in their tracks. Kills were 45, 92, and 116 yards. If always been a Core-Lokt guy for both 270 and Alt6 calibers for over 20 years until last year.
