Verne Lundquist's Unprofessionalism

I've alway thought the hate for Gary and Verne was just us fans being biased towards LSU. I was wrong about Verne.
Gary wasn't as bad but Verne on the other hand was laughable in his bias. Verne was so unprofessional during that game.
From actively trying to jinx Domingue to taking a shot at Tyron Johnson when he scored then he mention "Young man you need to check the scoreboard" or something along those lines. The "Oh Boy, Oh Boy" on that hit on the RB even though LSU got the first down was what sealed it. I never thought they were as bad as everyone said but Verne proved me wrong. I couldn't believe he was showing that much hate towards LSU. Not to mention being openly distraught when LSU made plays and giddy when Ole Miss made plays.
The refs were a story for another thread. I took screen shots of the ref watching the facemask on Dupre, reaching for his flag and then changing his mind. Not to count the hold on Pocic on Fournettesvlong RB and the hold on Mills.,
Anyway, it's over, we lost and no more excuses. I don't want to blame the refs for LSU losing but they sure made it harder.
But Verne. Smh.

CBS is literally unbearable. The commercials are noticeably frequent even at the games, and half the time they're not showing the field it's the cute cheerleaders and stupid Bama shakers. ESPN with Herbstriet and Fowler do a much better job

Plus he turned into a frog when White broke up the pass in the endzone.

Really pathetic to blast both the referees AND the announcers. Misplaced anger, my friend. We're not good and the blame falls squarely on Les. Everything else in your post is just noise.

MSU-Arkansas on ESPN took 3.5 hours even with 101 points scored. LSU-Ole Miss took more than four hours.

This. Against everyone we play.

I wish they'd just let Gary call the games alone. I love listening to him explain how plays work, what happened in the previous play and so forth.
The guy knows his stuff and he rarely has an ax to grind with any certain team.
Verne, on the other hand, makes my ears bleed. I can't stand listening to him. Let him call his basketball games with Raptery and golf things.
He absolutely drives me up the wall.

I'm sure everybody has seen the video of Verne sounding like a frog on the treadwell dropped TD. I wish I knew how to post the video and pics of the facemask non call

Dude was getting on my nerves during the game. They were terrible.

Do you think the SEC gets the huge dollars from CBS without an opportunity for CBS to recoup their investment via commercials?

I didn't say it caused the Tigers to lose. Just how awful it was. I didn't bash Gary, just Verne. It was just so odd and wondered if anyone else noticed or if I was just being biased myself. I actually thought Gary did a great job.

Verne cost LSU the game, no doubt about it.

CBS= Commercials Before Sports.
Now to the topic. I think Gary is one of the best in the business. He is a former college football player who is now a college football fan who calls college football games. He knows & is passionate about the game. Verne knows Gary is much more passionate and knowledgeable of the game so its as if he doesn't even try to be professional about his role which doesn't help Gary do as good of a job as he can.

Yep. It's all his fault. I bet he jinxed the whole team off the air. Now Miles can keep his job since Verne has been doing that black magic on LSU. LSU would be the champs if not for Verne.

I record the game and then don't start watching until 45 minutes has gone by. Then you have enough recording time to fast forward through the commercials. The only trouble is the last few games I wanted to fast forward through the whole thing.

Not quite 4 hours. Hanny and Risher were talking about it.
It was 5-10 minutes shy of 4 hours according to Charlie.

Game time was 3:52 but the broadcast milks 10 minutes before kickoff so it was over 4 hours for anyone watching.

Verne's best days are definitely behind him. He seems to always be eager to partake of the buffet and beer.
In his younger days, believe it or not, Verne was actually pretty solid. Many of you know he was the voice of the Cowboys on radio for several years, also anchored the 6 & 10 p.m. sportscasts, and even hosted a Bowling for Dollars Show. I recall watching him many of those years.
But his time should have come and gone, and he needs to go his merry way and give someone else who should easily be better a chance to do play by play of college athletics and pro golf.
