Nick Saban is the only logical answer

Strongly Disagree. He's a top 5 coach at a huge football school, has won his conference three times in six years, a national title and a playoff spot very recently, and he puts guys in the pros.

Plus, I would personally love the optics of LSU coming in and big leaguing Florida State by taking their coveted coach, like we were just letting the little kid down the street borrow him while we played with our other awesome toy that's old now.

Now people love that he stuck by him... odd how narrative changes when people want Les gone

people respect and appreciate nice Les Miles..

and that's exactly my point though. seems like people would want a coach not quite as nice if that means better product

regardless, i don't see the reason for your negativity. there is no perfect coach.. even saban has gotten his arse whipped in the playoffs and his last bcs bowl game

Jimbo isn't coming here, get that through your heads. He has a great gig at a University that lets you coach for 20 or so years before firing you in the middle of a winning season. Why would anyone leave that for the train wreck that is LSU?

Did anyone else find Jimbo to be a slimy dude the way he handled the Winston stuff a couple years ago?

Ummm. The only time QB that Jimbo coached at LSU that didnt get drafted in the NFL was Marcus Randall. He's also the reason LSU's offense struggled to finish in 2002. With Mauck to start that year after the opener, LSU was on fire. 2006 was all Miles holding Jimbo and the team back with his insistence on running with two damaged running backs and the OL fights between Les and Searles.

in a tougher conference

the thing is, you put the very best players together on the field.. you will win. bama has had so many stacks of #1 classes.. than even if you have a top 5 class every year.. it's still not as close in talent as it seems.. because Bama is limited to only being #1.. it doesn't even begin to show. look at that talent the assembled on D that caught up to this year.. so much depth. they rotated multiple studs all game long.

fisher puts together insane recruiting and at LSU I believe he will be even more ridiculous in recruiting.

the conference thing is silly. jimbo is still undefeated in bowl games (not the playoff last yr) at FSU (even when FSU was terrible when he first got there) he was winning the big game, even in their rebuilding years..

is the SEC REALLY as great as being made out to be today.. look around and it sure doesn't seem that way..?

seems like college football is pretty down all around..

So basically he recruits well and wins a lot of games, but more often than not loses a couple he should win, struggles in the big game, and gets a pass for winning that one natty.

He hasn't lost three straight games by 14+ points. I'll take a national title, a CFP appearance, and 3 conference titles in 5 years.

ETA: and he actually has QBs who don't look lost 70% of the time. That's a plus too.

So you're using this current season, the program's first after a No. 2 overall pick and Heisman Trophy winner has moved on to the NFL, in which they will likely go 10-2 with a fluke loss and a tough road loss to the #1 team in the country as the basis to post such drivel? Derp.

I'm looking at his entire tenure, not cherry picking a single year when a transcendent talent carried his team to a natty. More often than not, Jimbo's teams have choked away the big game or inexplicably lost two they shouldn't have. That's not my opinion, that's fact.

He isn't. He's taken top 5 classes every year only to underachieve in the ACC when it didn't even have a pulse. He'll post the same 2-3 losses a year here and in three years LSU fans will be calling for his head. Not only that, but we'll get a few nice offseason controversies to boot. LSU's best hope is to go after an up and comer and hope we strike gold.

Orange bowl win
Rose bowl National champ win
Semi-final loss

Lord baby jesus please let LSU underacheive like that the next three seasons

This is my biggest concern. If he needs a Winston to win it all, he better bring in and/or retain some amazing recruiters.

This is true of every single coach every single year except one. And lately, that one has been one of two, who I do not believe are currently on the market.

OP your need to go home and stop posting. Jimbo's offense won LSU 2 national titles. Yes he was gone in 07, but crowton used a lot of his schemes.

Listen, even Nick Saban can't go to the national championship every year and loses games he shouldn't (Ole Miss the last two years) and he's the best in the business. You're pretty f*cking stupid if you don't think Jimbo's an upgrade over Miles. There'd be no point in trying to argue with you, but just the mere stupidity of your post would be enough to try.

But Saban even gets his arse whipped in big games

Saban has recruited so ridiculous at Bama it's almost like how does he even lose a game.. ever.

Would like to see LSU get to that level.. like right now LSU is finally addressing, of course LSU recruits top 5, but bringing in coach O has LSU in position for some ridiculous amount of defensive talents.. That's why I think it's important to bring in an established HC with experience and a guy who is a beast of a recruiter to not only keep this class but even further it..

Who doesn't want a new coach in 4 years these days.

It's all the rage.

It's still no reason to dislike the possibility. Again, who would you prefer? Realistically.. I don't see how you can't be excited about that.

I know nothing about you, are you not an LSU fan?
Seems like most people against Miles leaving are non-LSU fans.
