Anybody use Uber from Denver to Breckenridge

Going skiing and wondering if that's a better option than the shuttles. I'm ok paying a little more if I don't have to sit through 14 stops at other peoples places bc I will inevitably be the last stop.
I went on Uber fare estimator and it told me 103-130 vs 118 using the shuttle for my wife and I. But I'm sure the fares will go up as we get into skiing season and the demand increases. If anybody's used them in late Jan./early Feb. I'd appreciate any info.

Problem with uber is them carrying all your luggage.
I prefer peak 1 shuttle over CME

We rented a car for less than that- though I guess it depends on how long you're staying.
Eta- just found a rate through Hertz for $20/day for midsized car.

We are going just after Christmas, and have been wondering what the best option is as well. How easy of a drive is it if you rent a car?

Are you used to driving in snow and shite?
And does your condo have free parking?
Have to factor that in.

it's easy. Roads plowed all the way there. there is some traffic depending on what time you go, though.

That depends if there is a f'n blizzard and the road gets shutdown.
I hate the drive... especially getting back to the airport. Seems like it's always an adventure, no matter what time you leave.

We usually always rent a car or have family pick us up, but last time they couldn't and car rates were high so we took a shuttle.
Ride to Vail was great, just me and my wife. I thought damn this is awesome. Was a nice big Mercedes van.
On the way back, it was a nightmare between weather, and having to stop 14 times and pick up people and being next to Big Lou who smelled like a pastrami sub and he was sweating because he had on 21 layers of clothes.
If you are comfortable driving in snow, I would highly suggest renting a car.
But also this:

Uh, not so much. They are usually ok but it can get dicey around the tunnel.
And prepare your anus if planning to drive to airport on a Sunday afternoon.

Last year after skiing at Crested Butte for the day drove back to DIA around 3pm to catch a 10pm flight. Well unluckily for us the wind was really bad that day despite it being sunny so all the snow was drifting across the roads in the valley. As soon as we got out of the valley we saw where we just drove through was closed. Here's a picture

Do Uber rates go up with traffic?
because Denver airport to Breck can turn into a 6 hr drive with a little snow and traffic
eta: I drink too much to rent a car

Been through there snowing so hard you couldn't tell if you were stopped or moving or about to drive off a cliff. Then the windshield wipers on the rental froze up and stripped out the shaft on the motor. Lovely day.
And... don't get a car with a 4cyl. engine. At altitude it will feel like it has about 30hp as it struggles up every hill. Get something with a V8 if you can.

And 4WD/AWD. Or at least nothing with RWD

I once got a stretch limo by myself to make that same trip, but I was 15 and dumb with money, and on Christmas day no one else was open. I can't believe a Denver uber driver would make that drive; I'd just do the shuttle.

we had to slow down in a couple spots last year, but it wasn't bad at all. i was driving a mini van and made it no problem. roads were plowed even at 4 in the morning.

They dont really have a choice. I drive for Uber a few hours a week when its busy and part of the agreement is that we have to bring the rider where they wanna go. Once we are 10 miles out side of New Orleans City limits we may put them out but if its reported (who wouldnt report being put out on the side of the road) then we better have a damn good reason for it, not just because we didn't wanna make the drive. I've gone from Nola to the northshore, BR, Biloxi, all over.

This.
First time I went to Breck we rented a car...got a base model Mitsubishi Lancer. Had to leave early in the morning to catch our flight home and hit a blizzard the first 30/45 minutes. It was not a fun drive at all.

Where are you coming from?
I live in Cap Hill and drive up to A-Basin, Keystone, or Breck every Saturday.
I have room in the truck if you want a lift.

I appreciate the offer. We are coming in on a Tuesday though. I think I may just do the shuttle route. Seems like the cheapest way for sure. Do you generally order it beforehand or wait till you get there? They seem to run every hour in season.
