Making a large deposit tomorrow, high five figure sum, on some property I'm buying up north.

I know there will be a lot of truth in this thread, but whats the largest sum of money you've ever spent on something.

House, car, property, etc.?

So you come here to talk about how much you are spending on property but ask everyone else to not mention house, property, car etc??

And then you downvote me and edit your post??? Nice!!!

Deposited $180,000 into my bank account about 10 years ago...sold my deceased mom's house which had no mortgage. I turned right around and cut checks to my brothers for their share.

I deposited a $200,000 check when I was 18.

A bunch of dudes got all upset about it. They eventually reported me.

shite hit the fan.

Paying material bills after Hurricane Rita for a crap load of roof, sheetrock, and insulation jobs I had Mexicans doing. It was crazy but I did a lot of work during that year and the first 4-5 months was insane. I reinsulated a whole hotel in one day that would have made most people's month. I was trucking in shingles and insulation by the 18 wheeler loads.

I wrote a check for over 1 million dollars during home ec in HS. We had a segment on banking and I was trying to act like my wealthy billionaire father.

I do wire transfers for the big purchases.

Except taxes. Those are sometimes big checks.

House payments hurt. When you are putting down 20% on anything over $400k plus closing costs you're gonna have a bad day.

Yeah a lot of people have probably written, or at least gotten certified checks, for a house down payment. I know I've written two or three 20 and 60k checks and I'm no OT baller. I've just bought a few houses and a boat.
