I think your disabled and drunk neighbors should drink in their apartment so as not to create more people on disability.
Stop trying to validate dangerous behavior. I bet you have pit-bulls.

hearing that this chick was sent home from her job this morning, thought to have been on drugs.

God damn, that bitch was running like 40 when she hit those people

The driver of the car that crashed into a crowd of spectators and killed four people Saturday at Oklahoma State University’s homecoming parade was sent home from her job at a local burger joint on Saturday morning because her supervisors “thought she was on drugs,” one of the woman’s co-workers told Heavy.

Burger joint is now on the hook.

No pitbulls.
I'm generally a safe guy that wears a seat belt in my truck and a harness in the deerstand.
I just think the crusade against barely drunk drivers who never caused an accident is parallel to the crusade against gun owners who have never comitted a crime with their weapon.
Why are penalties for barely "drunk" driving so high compared to the penalties for speeding, red li h ts, etc.?

Not saying this isn't true, but cops can't always tell a medical condition from impairment. I know someone who was arrested for DUI but a nurse at the police station could tell something was off. Turns out he had a form of epilepsy that makes him "space out." He's okay now with medication.

There's no arguing that she wasn't extremely messed up after watching the videos of it happening. The only excuse that wouldn't land her in jail for an extremely long time is having some sort of reaction to prescribed meds while driving, and she'd still spend some time behind bars for that. Barreling into that big of a crowd at that speed and not slowing down until AFTER you've already hit people is a pretty clear sign that she was WAY fricked up - like head-bobbing, room spinning, eyes rolling into the back of your head fricked up.
I got a DWI 5 years ago after having 3 beers at a bar a little over a mile from my house. I wasn't drunk or swerving in the least bit (didn't know I had a tail light out), passed the sobriety tests easily, but still blew a .0812 because I had drank the 3rd beer in the 2 mins before I left knowing I'd be home before it even affected me in the least bit. I haven't driven after drinking ONE time since then, and before that it was at least once a week. So in some cases the law does work, and doesn't just protect others. I thought it was extremely unfair to receive the level of punishment that I did, but looking back it may have saved my life, although it did ruin it for a while.
Who knows what this lady was on, but it affected her driving ability a hell of a lot worse than 1-3 beers. She should get an extremely stiff sentence IMO, and I've been on the driving impaired side of things.

Look at the stats for fatalities and injuries associated with DUI, speeding, and red lights. Report back.

I've looked. Speeding and distracted driving cause more accidents than DWI. Gurthermore, accidents are classified as "Alchohol releated" if the slightest bit of alchohol was present in either car, ignoring who was at fault and who was speeding or otherwise breaking traffic laws. The crusade against driving after the smallest sip is out of control.
I could speed sober just for kicks and maim a guy, and the penalty would be less that driving home safely after a couple cocktails.

The 'crusade' has some merits, but you make a good point about it being out of control, or at least out of proportion with regard to other factors that cause as much if not more death and injury.
I think driving is serious business. Not many people treat it that way.
We need more public transportation and communities that are designed better to facilitate getting around. This, combined with much more stringent requirements for holding a drivers license, would save lives.

I think he meant a .0812, i.e. barely over the legal limit.
The only time I ever had to blow, I blew a .05; this was in the 90s when the law was .10. The NOPD officer came back sayin, "concratulations, you're only half drunk". He drove me back to my jeep and said I should go straight home.

If I was a defense lawyer and your BAC showed .812, I would be fricking tap dancing in knowing that I was about to win a slam dunk case.

I agree with that. In densely populated cities and even most burbs, there should be alternative transportation available, and you should plan for that when you go out.

I wouldn't be surprised if we find out she was on heroin and nodded out right before she ran into the crowd. I say this for a few reasons. One, it was reported that she looked sober only 30 minutes before. She could have easily took a shot of heroin and get loaded that quick. Two, heroin would make her nod out and that would explain the lack of awareness and speeding up into the crowd. Three, heroin is huge in OKC, which isn't all that far from Stillwater. I personally know of 2 guys from that area and both are/were heroin users. It'll be interesting to see if we here the results of the toxicology.

Either that or loaded up on Xanax. From what the officer said it was obvious she was on drugs.

Yep, could easily of been Xanax too.
