50% of traffic fatalities are caused by sober drivers.
100% of fatalaties are by humans
Cars kill 50,000 people each year
Etc etc etc

Grow up. Accidents happen.

The hysteria/mob mentality on drinking and driving is a perfect example of why democracy is bad idea.

Why murder and not vehicular homocide? They think she meant to do it?

Not that I saw. I'm willing to bet it's drugs more than alcohol though.

Sources are saying she was not drunk and not drinking, more likely she's mentally ill

Why wasn't she given a breathalyzer?

Politicians, judges and LEO do it themselves so they will never push for stronger sentencing.

The top military command likes to have daytime drinks so the military allows 2 drinks during duty hours.

Her attorney can "absolutely" rule out alcohol but doesn't give any assurances about drugs.

I'm seeing a lot of reports that alcohol was not involved. My guess is she was mixing pills

In some states, depraved indifference to human life constitutes second degree murder even if there was no intent to kill.

That might point toward illegal drugs. Right or wrong, taking illegal drugs and then getting behind the wheel would be viewed differently than having one too many beers.

News to me. I'd have done 45 days of extra duty for trying that. Then again, I was an enlisted puke, I'm sure the officers have a few drinks.

At this point undiagnosed brain tumor or a myriad of other maladies that can result in rapid onset of diminished mental capacity or motor function are always a possibility.

As a govt employee I've always heard this was rule, but haven't seen it in writing.

I thought I read that she was fricked up at her job, and that's why she got fired. In the NY Times article, the manager portrays her as the best employee he had.....yet he fired her
