Ok, thought you were saying it was an internal issue or something.

Someone on the medical staff needs to check the medicine cabinet, I think Sean and Mick have gotten their hands on all of the painkillers and may be in danger.

For what it's worth, since Hicks is in the last year of his contract, if NE lets him go we get comp picks.

So to summarize, New England traded an undrafted TE that wasn't even active last game for a raw talent that, at worst, will result in a comp pick if he doesn't stay.

:D

I'll bet he plays well for Patriots. He had 1 good year with us and it was the year we had a good defense under Ryan. Bill will get the most out of his talent and turn him into a solid player.

At some point when are we going to look at coaching and not the players? Browner and Byrd also played like shite under Ryan's scheme and both were solid to great players before they came to the Saints. Jenkins was a very mediocre S for us but all of sudden goes to Eagles and plays much better than he ever did here. Hmm.

I'm with you. From what I'm reading this move gives us more cap space...hopefully this is just a domino.

The Akeem Ayers trade was legendary. Bill traded the Titans a 6th round pick for Ayers and a 7th. When Ayers left in free agency, it looks like we're picking up a 6th round pick as a comp pick, so we basically got a 7th round pick for trading for the guy who tackled Marshawn Lynch on the second to last play of the SB.

We just traded a guy whose cap average salary was $600,000 for a back up tight end whose contract is 1.2 million.

The trade saved us money:

quote:

The Saints are desperate for cap space and will save about $600,000 through this trade because Hicks costs more than Hoomananui: Hicks has a base salary of $1,529,500 this season, while Hoomanawanui has a base salary of $800,000. That means the Saints will pay Hoomanawanui $658,000 for the rest of the season and the Patriots will pay Hicks $1,258,778 for the rest of the season. Both Hicks and Hoomanawanui are free agents after this season.

We have been trade raped.

Agreed. I feel like we could have found a competent blocking TE in FA, but may have been able to get a 6th or 7th rounder for Hicks if we called around.

Another draft pick that has diminished from the 2012 draft.

Lmao, this organization is just plain fricking awful at talent evaluation and drafting period.
