This week my son informed me that there was a priest or pastor or whatever at his public school - during lunch you had the option to go listen to his talk and were provided with chicken nuggets as a bribe.

I don't mind a priest going down to a school and speaking with students who want to hear his message, but bribing the kids to go there is bullshite.

Why would you want a Muslim talking to school children?

Should we ban the Fellowship of Christian Athletes from meeting on campus as well?

I, sir, will not stand by and let you disparage our dear leader in this way.

Yeah…either that, or I'm using common sense and examining what has happened to others in the past who have done the same. Google is your friend - educate yourself.

Life according to Google. Enjoy being miserable. I'll play along with the assuming game. I'm going to say your post is total bs. You've never googled anything about anyone approaching a school to talk about atheism but you just said that because obviously there is some story out there about it and your trying to make yourself looked justified. While your making life decisions using Google, you should google miracles and how Jesus helped me and is God good? I bet you'll see a bunch of results that totally destroy your beliefs and if it's on google it must be true. There are stories and results on Google to support anything. If you want to talk about atheism at the school then grow some balls and approach the school about it.

Given how much of a whiner the OP is coming across, are we to really take this claim at face value? I guess it's possible the school provided the chicken nuggets in question, but I'm inclined to think that it was the church providing it.

When I did LSU spring testing in my senior year of HS, I went to a crawfish boil at the Methodist church on campus. What a bunch of jerks for trying to bribe me on public property!

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

Public schools, by and large, are pretty terrible.

They need all the help, they can get.

Separation of church and state says you can't teach Christianity on American soil. You wanna worship and read the bible, go to Mexico.

Isn't your kid a kung fu champion? Why didn't he just round house kick the religious idiot in his pious face?

It doesn't belong in public school

Imagine the uproar if children had the option to go learn about the teachings of Muhammad and were given more information on Islam. Parents would literally be shitting their pants

Only people that love to bitch about perceived issues. As long as there's an option of not attending, then there's no issue.

I seriously dont' believe this at all. There HAS to be more to the story than you're telling. My guess is it was an FCA event or something that chick fil a donated snacks for. Problem solved.

I have no problem with it as long as it is optional.

Meh, if they would they would be just as bad as the OP. Who cares, as long as it's voluntary.

You're either young and naive or old and stupid - and for your benefit, I hope it's the former. I don't have to google it - I suggest that for you since you're out of touch with the real world.
Most people come into contact with, at most, a handful of people who are "out" atheists throughout their lifetime, and make assumptions accordingly. If you belong to an atheist group - even a small one that puts you in contact with just a room full of fellow atheists - you may have a slight understanding. You'll hear far too many stories about how people are even ostracized by their own families due to their atheism. Discrimination in the school or workplace I can be even more profound. I won't subject my kid to that while he's enjoying high school. Sorry you're naive and/or stupid.
