The literature is out there. There are many very well documented Tarpon tournament catches in the lake as well as a long standing tarpon club. It's just not really my place to hot spot the area.

I will say that if someone really wanted to find them, it could be done with relative ease. Taking them on fly is another story all together.

Don't tell them a thing. If they can fish, they can find them. Otherwise you don't want them anywhere around you...

My Dad has told me stories of folks catching tarpon in LP not far from the mouth of the Tchefuncte River.

My father was a teen in NOLA in the early to mid 1960s. He says they used to caught tarpon every year on a seawall at or near what is now the South Shore Harbor and Marina.

I'm going out Monday morning with a friend in from Cali. Ya'll leave some tarpon in the lake for us!

BTW: on a visit out to Cali, he set up a kayak fishing trip in Monterrey bay. It was awesome. I'm hoping I can return the favor of hooking him up on a tarpon or Jack so he can jump in my yak and let it pull him around the lake a bit......

Nice thread topic on the OB. I friend of mine's buddy landed a nice tarpon yesterday in lake which went 175-190# fishing the south shore point dredge hole drop-offs drifting large live mullet. He released it alive after a 1.5 hour long fight. Said tarpon were rolling all over the place in huge schools busting up mullet pods which are just beginning their move out of the lake.

This is getting me all hot and bothered. I need to make time to check out the scenery in the area. The 12 wt is aching.

I've hit plenty of jack in the lake and a been on boat when a shark got pulled in. Can't imagine there aren't tarpon in there. Off topic but give it another three weeks and the whole lake is gonna be stacked with specks

Saw a 30 plus foot twin vee with a tower fishing for Tarpon in the Rigolets yesterday. Saw they caught some bait at the Rigolets train bridge and then headed to the hospital wall to get in on the action. Windy as hell yesterday but we did mark a lot of tarpon on the down vision scan in about 30 feet of water by the hospital wall.
