I wouldn't say that yet honestly. Cheap 4K TV's may not be very pricey, but I'd be willing to bet they're mostly 4K only in name with not very good quality. Sounds to me like all the "1080p" TV's that were everywhere with only about a 60mhz refresh rate...which are horrific.

Curved TVs seem like they limit the range of good viewing angles, and it seems like the extra money would be better spent on a larger or higher quality flat screen.
Also, the focal plane of most cameras is flat, so a curved TV will introduce distortion, right?
Its one of those things you have to have it in your living room to see, up close you can tell its curved but at farther distances it looks flat even when on extreme angles. Looking straight at it it looks flat in my living room.

Does the curved do much for you? That always seems silly to me but maybe I'm wrong.
I love it but it could just be the upgrade over the plasma i had, both curved and flat displays that i was looking at looked awesome. I had a sony flat screen in the running also and was going to buy it based on it had the 10 bit chipset in it but the screen on the Samsung blew it away IMO made the 4K Sony look like a plasma sitting next to each other.

I think strictly saying "you won't be able to tell the difference" isn't all that correct. Just walking through a Best Buy or any store with big TV display, I can always tell the higher quality TV's from a good distance.

You also have to think about the vertical aspect, because if you look at it from a slightly higher or lower angle, the curve becomes apparent.

That's not solely due to the strength of the TV. The high dollar TVs/brands that the store is partnering with are set with the absurd contrast and colors to appear brighter and more vivid.

I would agree with that only thing is I knew the sales rep at best buy from school and got ahold of the remotes and adjusted both TV sets to their max and the Samsung was just brighter and more vivid. The Sony had the better chipset but by the time that is relevant it will be time to buy another TV. Both TVs were the same price so they were comparable models

The floor of best buy is probably the worst place to determine TV quality. Just because a TV was brighter an looked more vivid does not mean it is the better TV, especially if you maxed them out.

I don't think UHF or cable tv can handle content that big which is why the only 1080p content you can get on TV is through satellite.
Yep, but even then it's compressed as shite. Only OTA offers true 1080p.

I work in the Pay TV industry
DIRECTV will have the most bandwidth as their new satellite that went up earlier this year
they will be launching the first 4k channel this December, but it wont be much content due to the channels not broadcasting yet

Samsung always has a brighter picture I was actually going to buy the Sony based on his recommendation but when they are sitting right next to each other and you have the remotes I don't see how it can get any better than that when making a choice on which screen looked better. Like I said the Sony had more future proofed internals the Samsung just looked better.

yes they did, and now they are part of AT&T so together they will have a shite ton of bandwidth
cable companies will be last and very behind on the 4k

The Sony TVs are the way to go. I work in the Industry and deal with both Sony and Samsung.
Also just last week the PGA tournament was broadcast in 4K.

The way we watch TV is going to change soon. No more cable TV everything will be streamed to your smart TVs. With 4K being a huge part of this.
