I believe there is such a thing as ADHD, but it is obviously over-diagnosed in the country. A lot of what some of these kids have could have been cured by a few good arse-whippings earlier in life.

It's bullshite just to get kids to sit down for eight hours a day at school.

Keep in mind France has 65 million people. We have 350 million with illegal Mexicans. So it stands to reason our problems would be 5 times as worse. Scale is very important and you need to compare apples to apples.
But France has 45 million Muslims which is worse than all the Mexicans in the world.

Mental health is a farce.

I lived with a middle class French family in Paris in 10th grade as a part of an exchange program. I went to their high school and did everything the kids in the family did. This article is spot on.
Were the girls hot? They put out? Did they want your American man meat? Did they shave their vagines?

damnit. this is the second time in a week i've made that error
Maybe you need some Ritalin?! Or possibly more structure.

I think it all stems from the "easy way out" attitude, scapegoating, and general laziness in the US. Some people do have legitimate biological reasons for needing meds (me for ADD, damn near every bipolar person, schizos, etc), but a lot of it is just solving a problem the easy way.
I mean, someone who gets depressed because they lost their job (i.e. temporary reasons) doesn't need to be medicated. That can be taken care of by counseling.
Once a doctor tells someone they need medicine, they will believe that they do for the rest of their lives, and blame everything bad that happens on the fact that a doctor prescribed them meds because they have a disease

i'd imagine structured eating and minimal snacking also is a major issue for their lack of obesity. snacking is terrible, esp in our system today with the snacks offered
1. The structuring is what does it. ADHD can be managed or not even noticed if the child has a very strict routine. My brother and 2 of my cousins have ADHD but my dad was a pharmacist and with our family's history of heart disease and the fact my brother was a premature birth my dad did not want to put my brother on Ridalin at such a young age. My parents made my brother and me have very rigid routine growing up and my brother made A & Bs in school and I made all As. He started losing the fight to ADHD when he was in 10th grade, but because of the routine he still made B and Cs in high school and graduated college. One of my cousins' parents were took the opposite approach and let my cousin run free and he made straight Cs and Ds until they put him on ridalin and then adderall where he started making Cs and Bs. My younger cousin has it as well and his parents put him on the same strict strucute my and my brother were on and he made all As until 8th grade where the ADHD started kicking his arse. His dad is an MD so he got him put on adderall when he started failing classes even with the study habits and he started making As and Bs. So IMO from personal experience and research that I have read it structure is really important and will help alleviate some of the effects.
2. ADHD is real but it is overdiagnosed. American parent's are too quick to overreact when little Johnny or Jane is not the best in his/her class. They are also lazy and would rather just give Johnny or Jane a pill everyday instead of the added discipline and structure. God forbid they take time away from the new season of American Horror Story or facebook to make their kids do there homework (not talking about all American parents here just the ones the medicate first parent later ones).

Yeah... that's why they used percentages.

The French people have coping skills, THAT'S why they are not all on Adderall.

Zero amount of structure can fix ADHD completely. When I study or do homework, I MUST meet a few requirements to do so, or else I won't be able to get anything done without meds.
Gotta be:
After 10-ish at night
Be in my room
Music on that I'm familiar with, but not too loudly
Have a big glass of water on my desk
Everything associated with the class on my desk
Certain lights must be on; no more, no less
There are a few more that I can't think of, but you get the point. It took a long time to get all of that figured out, but I did. If that shite isn't done, I can't study or do homework. I'll get distracted and think about something else, look up something on the computer, watch YouTube videos, etc.
My tutor was a middle/high school teacher for probably 8 years and didn't understand or believe that ADD was a real thing until he started tutoring me. He then started recognizing it in his students more often.
We were sitting in a coffee place one night, and he asked me to explain it. I couldn't put it to words, so I just offered to let him listen to the thoughts that go through my head for one minute. I made it about 30 seconds before he said, "Jesus Christ, that's good enough".
Eta: It's one thing when people's minds race when they are nervous it something. It's another when your brain makes it from a girl's arse in yoga pants to blueberry muffins in 20 seconds and does it all day....every day.

Can't upvote this enough. So many parents don't want to admit that most of their kids' problems are a result of poor parenting, especially in an era of the Ipad babysitter.

This all sounds like a conditioned response, not structure, and you can condition yourself to productivity under different stimuli.

All I know is that if those criteria aren't met, I'm not getting shite done, and will be up doing other random shite. Even when they are, it is still hard for me to continue getting stuff done without meds. I'll just stop 10 minutes in and do something else.
I take low dosages of Adderall because I don't like to speed (10mg at a time). When I take it,I can make it normally two hours or to a stopping point without fricking up

French moms don't play. Their kids don't act up and they will not hesitate to discipline them or get onto them in public.

They walk everywhere, drink coffee, and smoke.
and barely know what blue jeans are and wouldn't know what hoochi mama clothes are.
what do you think?

how much you wanna bet the real reason the frenchi kids don't get dosed is because the wine they drink helps knock them out before their parents do..
