The safe bet is Memphis wins somewhere just north of 50. Finishes middle of the pack among western conference playoff teams and loses a hard fought series in the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs.

I don't mean to rag on Memphis in my ratings. I always love their team and root for them whenever the Pels are out of the playoffs, but they have to be one of the 5 oldest teams. Gasol will be 31 for most of the season. Allen 34. Ditto ZBo. Green 29.

Torturous team to watch despite what some ESPN franchise watchability ranking from 2012 says which I know RTR is going to cite. 
I don't really dislike them, but to me it seems like it would be hard to get excited about them year after year.

Lagging indicator - fan support will only decline Memphis and Atlanta duke it out for worst fans in league and they see the writing on the wall

I have never claimed them to be a fun team to watch, though Gasol is a joy to watch. It is more the personality of the team that people enjoy here. Stoic Conley, TA running around screaming First team, ZBo bully balling.
Brandon Wright lobs will be a very welcome addition to the entertainment value

Watching MEM is like watching the noon eastern big 10 college football game. you gotta really be a fan of one of the teams playing to enjoy it.

Like where in the world are you getting this from?
This is a basketball crazed city. Local ratings are great, always at the top for draft ratings, and ratings are usually great for the NBA in general here.

They don't have a good backcourt. Not bad, but not above average. Their starting 3-5 is really good. Booker is a good backup 4.
Gun to my head, they're the 8 seed this season. But they're 2 years away from scaring the top teams in the West, and are far from a guarantee to make the postseason this year.
