re: Does the new 2016 Honda Pilot look too much like a mini van?

We are going to test drive some mid size SUVs this week.
Honda Pilot
Nissan Pathfinder
Toyota Highlander
Buick Enclave
GMC Acadia
Dodge Durango
A lot of them seem to be on a car or minivan chassis. That is discouraging news if they aren't budging on the MSRP of the new Pilot. I tried push for a minivan, but the wife was having none of it.

Doesn't have a sliding side door. Not a minivan.

Taking a closer look at the Pilot it certainly does share some lines and design cues with the Odyssey. For example, the angle of the last window on the side is the same.
Many automakers use a similar design theme across multiple vehicles, but I think Honda does this to a fault. They stretch the face over any body, and it doesn't always look right.

They're ALL unibody construction (in other words: cars) these days except for the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/Escalade/Denali, Expedition/Navigator, Sequoia, Armada, Land Crusier/LX 570, and GX 470.
Even Range Rovers are unibody now.
Durangos and Grand Cherokees used to be body-on-frame (trucks), but they switched and became cars in their most recent iteration.

Wife has had 2 MDX's and the front suspension was crap on both of them. Get a Toyota.

Get a Toyota. Pilots crap and while the Buick rides like a dream it still to me seems like a grandmothers ride.

4Runner and Jeep Wrangler are also BOF.

It looks kinda like the Toyota.

If I go with the 2016 I am going to hold out for a bit because there is no way I am paying the MSRP for a car and that is all they are offering.
What kind of discount do you expect after a certain amount of time?

It definitely looks like a "mom" SUV, if that answers your question.

Looks like a Honda Odyssey without the sliding door.

You should just have her get this minivan:

From the back, that looks like a minivan.

Love this pic to make it look cool.... It's still basically a station wagon...

Saw one the other day and really liked it. We're on our second Pilot now. Absolutely can't go wrong with the pilot or new, bigger highlander. Both super nice

Just took a second glance and noticed the rims......gross

I bought the wife a 2015 Pilot a couple of months ago. Loaded with everything except Navigation and Entertainment system for right under $30K.

I don't personally think it looks like a minivan. I have actually been contemplating changing over to the Pilot. They're much larger than I originally thought.
