Make customers feel comfortable? Gee I sure am comfortable knowing I have no way to protect myself or my family while using this POS service. BTW Lyft has the same policy.
Hopefully this liberal POS company burns to the ground.

Are they gonna do pat downs? Can't see how that's enforced.

It won't be enforced. It's just liberals trying to push a social agenda during a false flag crisis in Charleston.

It doesn't really bother me. If I'm using Uber, it's because I've been drinking. I'm not gonna carry when I've been drinking.

Are they too stupid to realize it would be safer and deter crimes if all the drivers were required to carry?

One of their drivers used a firearm to defend himself and others so... Uber bans riders and drivers from carrying guns so we feel safer.
Really?
What kind of Up is Down, In is Out kind of thinking is that?

Will they frisk me before I get into the car?

Nailed it.

Well if this is such a bad move and people are so unhappy about it the market will take care of it right?

This is clearly for liability reasons. If they did not have this policy and a rider shot a driver or vice versa, they would be more exposed to a lawsuit. I don't have a problem with this, and I fully support gun rights. They obviously have no way of enforcing this. They just have to have the policy on the books to better protect against lawsuits.

Paranoid much?
Since you call them a liberal company, I will be sure and use them often now.

So private businesses are only allowed freedom to do as they please, except when its something you don't like?
Businesses allowed to decide whether or not they will bake cakes for gays...CHECK. Allowed to decide whether their private business will allow for concealed weapons...OMG LIBERAL POS...UNACCEPTABLE!
The best part is, this "free" market everyone is clamoring for should take care of the problem right? If you don't like it, don't use Uber.
