Looking for ideas for a vacation that would be possible to take my 1 year old son with us. Would be a November-December timeline. Already doing the beach thing with family during the summer. Looking for an interesting city to visit that wouldn't be to harsh of a winter to tote the kid around, but still be interesting. Any ideas? Can't really go until the end of the year due to projects at work. Travelling from Houston and willing to go anywhere that's comfortable to travel with a 1 year old.

If you are taking a child that can't wipe its own arse, it's not a vacation.

If you can fly direct to San Diego it might not be bad. We took our girl at 18 months. The zoo, beach, and the Sesame Street park in sea world were great. It is pretty inexpensive if you stay on hotel circle. The weather is nice there then as well.

Try an all inclusive resort in Mexico or the carribean. They may have nannys in staff.

We are going to Hawaii in August and bringing our son who will be 15 months. That's probably legit that time of year. The beach and pool are real fun when they are that age.

Just drive down the road to galveston. Then turn around and go home.

Beach is easiest option. Try to stay away from the high rise condos, you'll be back and forth to the room a lot and will have to carry a lot more stuff.

San Diego would be a good spot

Weather is nice
Short flight from Houston
Fairly enexoensive and family friendly

The only big downside to traveling with them at that age is the naps they require to maintain some semblance of normalcy until 8 or 9 PM. If you're expecting to see every major landmark, museum, and historical sight in a big city in 5 days, slow your horses, it's not happening.

I second the all inclusive resort idea-- we took our son to Malta, Croatia, Cyprus, and Greece all before his second birthday. Not sure about A/I resorts on this side of the pond, but there, we didn't have to pay anything for him to go.

As others have said, an extended vacation with a 1 yr old is an ear infection away from disaster. Congrats on the sects.

For a little fun. Leave mom at home to take a nap. Take Junior to the mall or the zoo. All the bitches go crazy for an little baby. Tell them his mom is a crazy, estranged stripper. They will bend over to show you and Junior the boobs. Don't give them your real number.

When you get home, your wife will thank you profusely for the nap. Talk about how hard it was.
