So what's the thought behind Jon now? We all know he's getting stabbed, what after?

I dont think he dies. Melisandre is there, and very rarely (only one I can think of is Kevin Lannister), does GRRM kill someone from their own point of view. All the maain characters who have died, have been killed off, being told by someone else.

Jon snow definitely isn't just staying dead. For like a billion reasons

Yep, we discussed this a few pages back or in crackpot. He is the ice in ice and fire.
He's not a main character like ned, robb, joff, Robert that was killed off.
He's THE main character or 1a,1b with Dany. If one of them die it would be way at the end of the last book

I think he is the Ice and the Fire in the song of fire and ice

I think Catelyn is the POV for the Red Wedding. Only other one I can think of. And probably doesn't even count since she gets resurrected.
Kevan can probably be filed away with the other one-timer POV prologue/epilogue POVs that die

Yeah, and to eat a boar that was out there. But what happened in the book was totally different than what happened on the show. In the book, Dany was in the stands when he arrived, and he was there to eat. Then when he started setting stuff ablaze, she finally jumped down into the arena to try and get control of him (after he torched her arse). She ended up having to whip his arse with an actual whip.
It was a totally different event in the book than the show.

This could be the tag line for the entire season.

The whole time Stannis was burning Shireen all I could think about is who would want to fight for this dude now? This guy burns his helpless daughter, yes lets go die for him.
Burning your child doenst seem like a power move to gaining much other than making Melisandre happy.

Yeah, exactly. I'm thinking as soon as Stannis gets anywhere close to where his soldiers can make a clean escape, they will. Stannis was highly unpopular even before Melisandre came into his life. Now he's lit his own daughter on fire. If he does that to his own daughter, think of what he'll do to his enemies. No one will ever follow Stannis after this.

Tyrion said it best. If you kill those devoted to you, you won't inspire devotion.

Yeah. I think they probably put that advice from Tyrion in there largely for that reason.

Thanks, that is exactly what happened.

It would be awfully coincidental if that isn't the case. I think it definitely foreshadows a split with Davos.

I don't think that was the point of his comments.
Too much blame is being placed on Stannis. You can disagree with his religion but it is his god that requires human sacrifice. Ancient Near Eastern religions required human sacrifice, eg the Moon god Sin. The Aztec, Toltecs and Mayans continued the practice. He did not have enough food to make a siege or safely return in retreat. He was in a no win situation.
The irony of this development is that has Ramsey not done what he did then Stannis would not have been desperate enough to sacrifice his daughter. Accordingly the siege would not have more than likely succeeded due to the strategic adv of Winterfell.

Pretty much more of the same
There's another anchored GOT thread that someone made about Shireen

This thread has shifted to either people in denial that the book has been spoiled, or people starting to rationalize Shireens death as something that's good for the realm
