I have low expectations that Winds will be out by Christmas
but surely out before S6 right?

This couldn't have been a big surprise.
I don't think it was a big surprise. Heck the episode leaked early on Sunday and the word about the burning spread so to a lot of people it wasn't a surprise at all.
But something doesn't have to surprise you for you to dislike it. (not speaking particularly to you here but I've seen a ton of posts across the internet saying something like "why are people so angry. They knew or should have known it was coming" and I don't get them conflating the two concepts.
However, I also think there is a difference between being angry at the act itself (ie: angry at what is happening on the show) and being angry at the writers/producers for making that a part of their show.
I think one have to be pretty far gone morally to NOT be angry at an intelligent, innocent and pleasant 11 year old girl being burned to death by her father. But being angry at the writers/producers, etc. is a totally different question.

I wouldn't bet my house on it.

Yes. I am willing to sacrifice my existence just to beat the crap out of those silly hacks.
So it's a win-win.

Didn't Stannis already burn his uncle-in-law for treason and good sailing winds to Eastwatch?
This couldn't have been a big surprise.
Yep, and he burned 3-4 men in the books, right there in the snow.

Just rewatched the second half and have some thoughts/questions.
How crappy are the Unsullied? I don't remember them getting their asses kicked this much in the books.
When Dany closes her eyes is she praying or summoning Drogon?
Speaking of Drogon, I was also disappointed how easily he was speared. I imagined his scales were more impenetrable. He better toughen up or he won't last in a war.
The graphics for that scene were great. The fly around when he entered was great. When she hops on and rides him off that was a little cheesy. Her inner circle looked pissed too! Like thanks I guess we just stay here?!

The story that Shireen was reading when Davos bid her goodbye...wasn't it essentially The Princess and the Queen novella? That story was called The Dance of Dragons at the beginning of the narrative.

He's essentially a young teenager. Once he's full grown nothing will be able to touch him.

It's been so long since I've read the novel but I thought it was something like his insides were liquid fire and the spears would just melt in him or something like that. Heck, now I have to go googling.

quote:Stannis sacks Winterfell, Jon bites it as the cliffhanger. Season 6 opens with Davos returning to Winterfell and tells of Jon's death, red titty rushes off to Castle black and revives. Davos learns of Shireen...loses his shite, returns to Castle Black. Kills red titty, Jon comes in like wtf bro?
So what's the thought behind Jon now? We all know he's getting stabbed, what after?

I've been on vacation and just caught up on the last three. WTF has this show turned into? I can't believe they actually burned a little girl. The HBO writers should have just stuck with Gurm's story if they were going to do such a shitty job themselves.
I did like Jon going to Hardhomme. That was a good addition.
Can't believe I waited a year for this.
