My .02 is Stannis men want to live and not die in the snow. So he had a camp fire get together and said... Got to burn the offspring for us to live... And no one questioned it. His men were all lined up ready for the show.
I'm a hybrid book reader (still reading) and show watcher. I would like to thank the frequent posters for making this thread enjoyable to read.

middle ground and the crackpot will never die.
They are like Rock and Bowl and the Drowned god of the board combined.
Still, I want an inclusive thread for all of us to chat it up.
Or just let it be known that it's all clear now.
Unless..... Pycelle and Kevan live on, then there is one more spoiler left to go.

Yeah there is still stuff that the show could still find a way to put in the storyline, even if it's unlikely that they do, hodors won't like the possibility of being spoiled

Still feeling hardcore enough to kick D&D and GRRM's arse today?

I look at it like this. For someone to cause such a range of emotions from a piece of fiction tells us that said person is a great story teller.
We can love and hate this show that much. The universe it is set in, is outstanding.
If I ever met GRRM, I would shake his hand, and then tell ask him what does he have against the Starks?

Haven't read the entire thread, so this may have been addressed, but I see a lot of people wondering how the spears pierced Drogon. He likely isn't fully grown yet and doesn't have his mature scales, which in the books is one of the reasons Dany stays in Mereen, to let the dragons mature.

Dany pulled one out pretty easily, so I doubt they really hurt him. There are cool pics that show how big Balerion was, or was supposed to be.
I would guess Drogon is 1/4 that size maybe? He's only like 4 years old right?

Didn't Stannis already burn his uncle-in-law for treason and good sailing winds to Eastwatch?
This couldn't have been a big surprise.

The fact that the show is now spoiling the books is not going over very well with some.
They better get used to it. I have no faith in fat man finishing the next book before the next season.

Do we know when the next season comes out? Is it always almost a year, or 9 months?
If that book comes out before Christmas the sales will be incredible

I have low expectations that Winds will be out by Christmas.

Oh my poor naive summer child...
There is 0% chance it is out by Christmas.

I don't think it was a big surprise. Heck the episode leaked early on Sunday and the word about the burning spread so to a lot of people it wasn't a surprise at all.
But something doesn't have to surprise you for you to dislike it. (not speaking particularly to you here but I've seen a ton of posts across the internet saying something like "why are people so angry. They knew or should have known it was coming" and I don't get them conflating the two concepts.
However, I also think there is a difference between being angry at the act itself (ie: angry at what is happening on the show) and being angry at the writers/producers for making that a part of their show.
I think one have to be pretty far gone morally to NOT be angry at an intelligent, innocent and pleasant 11 year old girl being burned to death by her father. But being angry at the writers/producers, etc. is a totally different question.
