Is this job in sports? Will you be allowed to present stats that aren't favorable towards your company?

Not the first time I have seen Ballard recommended, I appreciate it
I'd recommend it as well unless you want to commute for an hour during peak traffic times. It's close to downtown and has a decent layout. It seems I always end up there when I go to Seattle for any length of time

I recommend getting a few tats and piercings to fit in.

Yes and I am somewhat concerned about it, as I have lived in areas with low costs of living(Jacksonville, Fort Worth, Las Vegas, Iowa)
Don't let people freak you out too much. It's actually not that bad. If you are renting, it's not bad at all, particularly in some of the areas of Seattle surrounding the main hub areas. Check out Wallingford and Fremont, or Phinney Ridge areas. They are really not that bad costwise and have a lot of things to do around there.

So you took a job in an area you know nothing about? That was really smart

Better become acquainted with this term "Seattle Freeze" and read up.
If you're a single dude, best of luck. Seattle is a giant tech-sausage fest.
Ballard driving by the way

That's the nature of the radio and TV industry. Your goal is to move up to a bigger market regardless of location
I am making the jump from market #90 to #15, which is a huge jump. Most people have to go to a more mid sized market before getting into the Top 15 so I am lucky

Take an umbrella
The locals say you can always tell the people from out of town as they are the only ones with umbrellas.
Was just there a month or so ago, beautiful area, seems like a ton to do outdoors. Vancouver is a short drive away, one of my favorite areas to visit. That and Whistler.

goldnugget, what do you consider a reasonable rent for a 1 bedroom, because you can get a decent 1 bedroom in North Fremont or Phinney Ridge for around $1000-1250 a month. It's really not as bad as some make it out to be. Ballard is also nice. Do you know where your work will be located?

If you are going to be working in Seattle proper then Lynnwood is not a good spot unless you like to spend your time in traffic.
I worked in Seattle but I am married with kids so I lived in the burbs on the East Side.
I lived there for 3 years and found it quite enjoyable.
It doesn't rain that much its just gray and misty most of the time.
The winter is long and the days are really short.
The summers are fantastic with mild temperatures and long days.
If you like the outdoors there is an unlimited supply of activities.
Craft brew heaven. Don't knock it until you try it.
Great food.
Plenty of good looking girls.
I have lived in a lot a places and I will never live in a more beautiful place that when we were in Seattle. Our neighborhood was on a plateau nestled between snow capped mountains.
Its clean and the people are pleasant.
Lots of liberals.
The "Seattle Freeze" is real look it up.
Its far. Its a 5 hour plane ride to Dallas and for me a lay over and another hour flight to Baton Rouge to visit family.

I am paying $600 where I live now for a nice 1 BR at 850 square feet
I am guessing I will be paying at least double that, if not more, for a 1 bedroom that is smaller than 850 square feet

That's what I always thought...lots of rain. But's different...like a mist. Been there twice. 2 weekends ago and last Sept '14. Both times the weather started out misty but next day it was awesome.
But, if Northwest Washington people came to SE La and experience our rain...they would say it's a freakin hurricane or monsoon every day.

I had a 750 sq ft apartment smack dab in Fremont for about $1050/month and it included water, trash, sewage, etc.
It's really not that bad, but is definitely more than BR. One thing though is you are getting back 6% on your income tax since like Texas, Washington state doesn't have income tax.

I'd imagine your salary would be bumped to account for the cost of living...

Is it a nice apartment? If I can get an apartment at that price I would be estatic
