The only solution is for people to stop going to see them, and that's not going to happen. Of the top 15 grossing movies of 2014, only one was purely original material - The LEGO Movie.

They might as well go ahead and remake the rest of Carpenter's film catalogue. Bradley Cooper and Kevin Hart in They Live, coming next week.

And The Rock is so wrong for Jack Burton. 6'5'' 260 lb bodybuilder Jack Burton struggles to beat up one bad guy while Wang kicks arse, that ain't gonna work.

I'm kinda with you on this one Dr RC. I'm kinda cool with this one. I think there's a lot of good source material and an upgrade in special effects would be kind of cool. Not sure about The Rock in the lead roll. He has the comedy element, but he's too superhuman to play Burton. Burton was kind of a normal, average dude. I guess we'll see.

You know who's actually kinda perfect for Jack Burton but he's now 2nd to The Rock in being in almost everything, Chris Pratt.

How is it destroying your childhood?

When a remake is made, it erases the original from existence?

Jack Burton was lightening in a motherfricking bottle. Could luck with that Dwayne.

'You guys sit tight hold the fort and keep the home fires burning and if we're not back by dawn.....call the president'

Watched it with my 8 year old last week; he fricking loved it. You can't remake this and have it work. Use your brain and come up with something original.

I don't think this remake is necessary. I like the Rock but I don't think he is a good fit for Burton. Burton was a legend in his own mind. The Rock is too swole to play that role.

this was one of my favorite movies when i was a kid. remaking certain movies would be sacrilege, and to be honest, this isn't one of those movies. this is exactly the type of movie that could be remade. i agree that the rock is a complete 180 of kurt russell, but time will tell.

The Rock will definitely be the hero of the movie. The joke of the original is that Kurt Russell's character is a clumsy doofus.

*if there's a Carpenter movie deserving of a remake it's Prince of Darkness.

I like the Rock, but why is he starring in this? Why not go with Chris Pratt or someone like that?
