I'm going to be doing some health insurance shopping when open enrollment comes around. Just wondering how much the average family is spending per month on health insurance.

Definitely seems a bit excessive.

My company used to pay for mine, they got bought out a few months ago and now we were told we have to contribute. So now I pay $680 for myself and wife per month. Pissed.

My company pays for mine and currently my wife is still on her parents. But coming up she has to get her own and I think it's gonna run her $159 per month.

i pay about $250 /month for medical , dental , and vision.

Deductibles are nominal about $25, ER visit about $100.

But I paid much less a few years ago and had way more coverage (like $0 for ER visit, lower max out of pocket)

The giant scam that was ObamaCare. They promised low cost but that was actually just for those that didn't have insurance. Everyone else's had to go up to pay for those folks. Welcome to wealth redistribution.

I got insurance through the exchange this year and for the gold coverage with a family of four(myself, wife both nonsmokers and 2 kids ages 4 and 5) I paid $950 a month with Kaiser Permanente. Its great coverage and better than or equal to anything I got through any employer. I live in Colorado if this makes any difference.I now work at Coors and get the same coverage for $320 a month.

ETA- I was paying like $1300 a month for BCBS through Cobra from my last employer until I got on the exchange. It was great coverage also and included dental for that price
