"Unfortunately, we do not yet have a firm timeline for when Blue Bell Ice Cream will be back in stores, but we believe at this time that it will be several months at a minimum," said Blue Bell CEO and President Paul Kruse.

The extensive and detailed process of updating, cleaning and sanitizing our four production facilities, as well as training employees and implementing new programs and procedures, will take longer than we initially anticipated. Each facility will have its own timetable and production may resume in some locations before others. Blue Bell is committed to a thorough process that will ensure the highest quality and safety of our products for our customers going forward. We know we have to get this right, and we intend to do so. That is our top priority.

"Unfortunately, we do not yet have a firm timeline for when Blue Bell Ice Cream will be back in stores, but we believe at this time that it will be several months at a minimum," said Blue Bell CEO and President Paul Kruse. "We are evaluating all of our operations in light of this extended timeline, we are working closely with the appropriate federal and state regulatory agencies and our microbiology experts, and we are mapping out the many details of returning to production and distribution as soon as we can do so with confidence. We thank all our customers for their support and patience as we work to create the cleanest, safest environment possible to produce the high-quality, great-tasting ice cream people expect from Blue Bell."

Meanwhile, the cow's udders are beginning to resemble a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon.

Good on blue bell. Get it right even if it takes longer than expected

Well, they better take their time and do a thorough cleaning this time.

After the news this week of the FDA report saying that Blue Bell knew about the listeria problem 2 years ago and admitted their cleaning "was not adequate", they really need to cover their asses now. LINK

(I'm sure many, many other companies have similar problems; Blue Bell was just the unlucky one who happened to have deaths result from theirs.)

I love my blue bell, being a proud Texan and all, but the CEO should be fired. Now that it has come out that listeria has been a problem since at least 2013, he is responsible and shouldn't even get a chance to resign.

Can you imagine if this were a public company? Could they do this without declaring Chapter 11 or something, and if so, what would happen to their stock in the meantime? Crash 95% or more?

The anticipation of getting their ice cream, combined with this news, has given me blue bells.

I'd buy the stock. I believe they will recover and two years down the road it will be forgotten.

I still buy Tylenol.

After buying 2-3 different brands I can assure you blue bell will be fine because they have a great product.

Blue Bell will most likely survive. What about Jeni's Ice Cream?

Häagen-Dazs is delicious and they put a sell by date on their product. Screw those arrogant people at Blue Bell for knowing about the problem but doing nothing until deaths are involved. I hope they never recover from this.

so does blue bell fwiw.

after you posted here that they didn't have expiration dates on them, I checked the two tubs of blue bell I've had in my freezer for a few months and they had an expiration date on the bottom.

Their website says they don't. They've either changed and use an expiration date now, or you're mistaken. If they have recently started using one, why were they emphatic about not using one in the past?

Well that sure looks like a date, I wonder if it's a sell-by or use-by date? They no longer have that info on their website, but they had this the Q & A below on their website. Looks like someone may not be telling the truth. LINK

Q: When did you first learn that Listeria linked to Blue Bell was also linked to events dating back to 2010?

A: We were only notified in April 2015 that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) had performed research and linked the DNA fingerprint from the Listeria found in Blue Bell products to cases of Listeriosis dating back to 2010. The linkage was established retroactively using technology called whole genome sequencing, which has only recently been used to track Listeria outbreaks.

I always thought that was a use by or sell by date, as well. Sure looked like one the ones I've bought in the past, but in another thread, I think you quoted the website that they don't use them. It was very strange not to use them, but to have a stamp on the bottom that sure looked like one.

That info that I quoted from their site a few weeks ago is no longer on their website. But that pic sure looks like a date to me.
