It's common knowledge that the more well rested you are, the better you can perform on tests.

Here's my dilemma:

Test Wednesday at 5:30 pm. Been up since 6 am Tuesday morning. Got 6 hours of sleep Monday night.

I have a ton of stuff to go over still.

Option A: I power through and stay up all night until my 5:30 pm test

Or

Option B: sleep 2 hours right now. Then get up and study until my test.

I guess I'm asking how much sleep it takes for it to actually benefit me more than just staying up and studying.

TIA.

How about you should have studied more earlier? Deal with it.

I always had bad anxiety the night before finals so despite how badly i tried to sleep, i ended up just staring at the celing. Eventually i just decided i might as well be studying since i cant sleep.

i would always take a nap as soon as the test was over.

the good idea is to sleep before the test, but that is only if you have been studying for several weeks and know the stuff.

if you havent even starting looking at the material, you are probably fricked either way.

Used to sleep from 8 or 9 till 3, then cram till the test.

It works.

If you're at the point where you're seriously considering an all nighter, that's a sign that you're dead in the water and it's way too late.

All nighters usually never work.

You'll be way better off if you just go to sleep now for 5-6 hours and study from 5:30 till your test.

fricking lol if you think you're actually going to wake up at 1 AM after 2 hours to start a 16 hour study session.

Sleep helps your brain organize the shite you been studying so you can recall it on your test. You need some REM sleep, so probably at least 4 hours.

530 pm? C'mon man - get at least 6 hours. Your brain won't recall jack shite if you're exhausted. Listen to your body.

Get as much sleep as possible. Even an hour is better than an all nighter.

Study as long as you are productive then nap 2 hours.

I survived school on all nighters... But always did better when I got sleep, no matter how little.

ETA you sound like a dumbass

I never pulled an all nighter and graduated with a great GPA.
