Or is "actors with the least range" a better way to put it? Either way you hear people say this term from time to time

Tom cruise is tom cruise in pretty much everything he's in

Jason statham is always himself in everything

Ethan hawke, who I strongly dislike, is always his perpetually whiny faced self in every role to me

Vince Vaughn maybe


Who else?

To be honest, most "movie stars" fall into this category, which makes the merely competent, character actors like Daniel Day Lewis look like geniuses, because they are the only high-profile actors who are actually acting.

The bar ain't high these days.
