Excitement lies in the hunt. Ask any bourbon-fiend who spends time tracking serial numbers for Pappy Van Winkle, or any hophead traveling north of San Francisco to wait in line for Pliny the Younger, a product may deliver, but the experience elevates.
In greater New Orleans, underrated Parish Brewing already has one beer that registers on the Pliny hype scale—fans line up annually to buy tickets for a barleywine called Grand Reserve. But these last two springs, a different Parish release has become the most sought after brew in town. And the newer beer even outdoes the beloved Grand Reserve in BeerAdvocate rankings (98 to 94, but to be fair both are “world class”)..........

ETA: And BTW, Parish just announced the next batch will be released during American Craft Beer Week which starts May 11.

I'm a bit skeptical of that number. It doesn't seem nearly as bitter as Stone's Ruination, for example.

False. I hate waiting in line for beer or driving around town. I've done it, and I'll grudgingly do it again, but it's annoying as shite.

I've done it and will never do it again. No beer is worth that hassle, their is always a viable substitute that is easy to obtain.

This last release of goats was the first time I saw it get a bit crazy. Hopefully with more frequent releases it won't turn into a PITA to get my goat juice.

I concur. I like giving my business to places that try to take the hassle out of it. I hate the shite shows...

I agree.
There's also a big difference in running from store to store to buy 4-packs as opposed to going to something like Grand Reserve Day where there are plenty of other great beers to try.

Well, Ishmael, i would agree with you. But i've seen a small portion of your catch. I'd be surpised if you didn't already have a couple kegs of Ghost sitting in your basement.

I liked what Calandro's did. Limit to 2 per bottle. I actually was able to buy at least 2 to try.
I then lucked up elsewhere by simply asking about it and got the "let me go check in the back" and they came back with 2 - 4 pks.

I totally agree also. BUT, I also totally see how some people enjoy the hunt and experience of the pursuit.

It does give you a sense of excitement. Reminds me of going to toys r us as a kid.
Had that same feel when i went to specs last weekend looking for Yellow Rose. I was looking all down the aisles at teh big specs downtown and couldn't find it. Couldn't really find any texas brews. Then i went a little further down and saw the Texas beer aisle and like 6 cases of bombers of Yellow Rose. Came back with 2 bottles.

Sure. I totally get it. And I'll even participate from time to time, but I'd rather not have to.

I still have a bottle of the last Grand Reserve batch that was released and the first Farmhouse IPA release. I remember reading that the Farmhouse can sit for a while, but what about the Grand Reserve?

Grand Reserve can sit even longer, it should age very well. I have bottles from all three years still.

It is annoying, especially when you say you'll buy for out of towners. This time, I'm buying for me and that's it. I can't spend all day running around buying beer.

I agree with Bottomland. the "hunt" part sucks arse. mostly I just don't care enough to hunt for very long and I ain't standing in line.

Very good. . I honestly forgot about them since they ended up a couple of wine bottles. Nice surprise.

I wouldn't wait too long on the Farmhouse... at some point soon it's going to start to trend down, if it hasn't already.
