I am looking to build a little outdoor kitchen with a built in grill and a bar. I don't want to break the bank on this little project. All the built in grills that I have seen are 1k+ anyone know of any in the >$500 range?

Have you considered a Big Green Egg? You can grill, smoke. bake pizza, etc. The kamado ceramic cookers are amazing.
Someone on this or FDB forum just did an outdoor kitchen with one in a thread with pics.

Rhymes with wickowick
Seriously though, it's going to be tough to get lasting quality for $500. I personally was going with a weber genesis (~$750?) but got a primoXL for a good price. Note: I've never been a charcoal guy and I can say at this point I'll never go back to gas.

You can get a grill for $500 last has no warranty and is made of subpar materials. Then build it into a $700 brick island and top it with $1000 worth of granite.

Not Built-in but recommended for charcoal.

I use my smoker 90% of the time, but bought a dynaglo recently for quick stuff. I am more than pleased with it. Feels just like the Weber I used to have but much less expensive.

If you are building an outdoor kitchen, splurge for a ceramic grill. You can do anything u want on it with the right parts/pieces... And can collect them over time.
Wick may be here in a little while to determine the next time an order will be made.... I may have another buyer, too.

Fall is the normal time for an order...

A $500 metal grill will rust out in three years then you are back where you started. Use the magnet test. If a magnet sticks to a metal grill no matter the cost don't buy it.

The parts of a grill that will usually "rust out" quickly are the burner tubes and grate because they must withstand heat, moisture and salt routinely. Just make sure the grill has stainless burner tubes and a stainless grate and that parts are readily available and you will be fine.
My $350 Weber gas grill is 7 years old. I replaced the ceramic-coated, cast-iron grates with stainless and it is doing just fine, magnetic top and all.

I have a weber performer series, had it for 4yrs, great grill, haven't had to replace anything. Keep it clean and covered it will last ..
It might not last as long and look so pretty if you had ever took the cover off and actually cooked anything with it..

Oh - I thought they just stayed covered all year, guess I should check out my smoker to when I am ready to uncover them.
