As much as I hate to admit it, killing off Bannister (Barristan Selmy) really helped setup Dany accepting Tyrion.

I wrote this earlier in an email to friends....

we are all readers and pretty much like everything they have done to accelerate events in Essos. Can't wait to meet Randyll Tarley Too!!!

But that was weak sauce how they did it. Going down defending Grey Worm, a character that I doubt any reader or Hodor would ever think about again? At least have him go down defending Dany.

You won't get an argument from me on that. It was almost like they rushed his death just to get it over with. Definitely felt like it came out of nowhere, with no setup.

Agreed. Could have had him go down in a blaze of glory in the fighting pits (with Jorah).

Perfect time to do it was when she killed that slave and all the former slaves started hissing.

Probably didn't wanna rehash the Joff cow turd riot scene.

Brienne has half of Ice, which is the ancestral sword of the Starks

In the books so far, does Ice ever go back to the Starks? Or is it ever reformed?

I do appreciate the symbolism of the bastard Stark wielding a bastard Valerian blade, but in the perfect world I envision, Ice is back in one piece.

Nope. Ice is gone. Tomen has Widow's Wail, the other half of Ice... I seriously doubt the two swords will ever be in the same place again.

I wonder if Brightroar will ever be found. Now that Tyrion is in Essos, I've wondered if he may stumble upon it. I always thought that might be a nice peace offering he could give Jamie.

Is there any information on exactly how much Valerian Steel is left? And is it all in the form of swords?

Here is a link to the ASOIAF wiki page about the Valyrian steel weapons (just be careful navigating that page if you don't want book spoilers):

LINK

There is around 10 or so Valyrian weapons, most of which are various swords. There is the dagger that was used in the assassination attempt on Bran & supposedly an axe (that I don't think has been mentioned on the show).

I read somewhere that hinted that Roberts war hammer was Valyrian. I'm pretty sure that's bs, but can you confirm?

No, Robert's war hammer was not Valyrian steel.

No, there are a very small number of Valyrian arakhs, the curved swords used by the Dothraki. One of the minor characters of a sellsword army you won't likely see has one.
