Possible. But this doesn't exactly fit their MO. This guy was totally silent the while time. Muslim terrorists usually are chattering their heads off the whole time.

There was a "deliberate attempt to destroy the aircraft," Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin says about the Germanwings crash. The most plausible explanation of the crash is that the co-pilot, "through deliberate abstention, refused to open the cabin door ... to the chief pilot, and used the button" to cause the plane to lose altitude, Robin said. He emphasized that his conclusions were preliminary.

Is this the thread where everyone has turned into a plane and pilot expert?

Hey asshat. I have flown (passenger) 8 times. Only drunk during one flight. So I am rated to fly paper airplanes and my old Mellinium Falcon around the house making jet noises.

How long after we find out it was a muslim that intentionally crashed the plane before it becomes a law that the names of the pilots/co-pilots are never given out before a plane trip/ or after a crash?

The door would usually be in the "normal" position, but if the Times report is true, it would appear that after one of the pilots left the cockpit, it was switched to the "locked" position. This prevents the other pilot from using a keypad and emergency code to get in from the outside, he said.

crazy and this isn't the first time a pilot in command of the plane has committed suicide killing the passengers. I tend to believe this is what happened in the Malaysian disappearance and also that Egyptian air flight. Seems like even the smaller planes need three trained pilots in the cockpit or plane and always have two at the yokes. Which I know is a silly overkill, but we need to keep the public's trust in flying and aviation in general. It's scary to think that all it takes is for one pilot to flip out, and we can get this.

Anybody think it's odd that this plane was crashed intentionally and one of the passengers was a government contractor who worked in the geospatial office for the U.S. Government?

Is Lubitz, by any chance, a Jewish name?

Yeah, that's what they are saying publicly. He was quiet. That the truth?

:tinfoilhat:

Now the pilot's family is going to come out saying he would never do such a thing.

Let's call it what it is, mass murder/suicide.

Assuming this is true, this wasn't some poor guy who couldn't take it anymore and ended his life which happened to kill bystanders. It is murder just like it would be if he went around shooting 149 random people.

I just hate seeing comments about him "taking other people with him" when they should be branded the same as any other murderer except they did it on an even more massive scale.

Is The solution is a small bathroom in the cockpit?

I think some Jews are named Lubitz, but it is a German name. This guy was from Montabaur - roughly halfway between Bonn and Frankfurt in Western Germany. Although he was 28, he still lived with his parents - but also kept a house in Dusseldorf.

Seemed to catch the flying bug fairly young.

No different than a suicide bomber. He wasn't just killing himself. He was killing 149 other people. He knew what he was doing.

If a pilot wants to crash the plane he can do it. Overpowering the other pilot, nosing over on short final etc. There is no real way to stop this from happening. Even the US having FA's enter the cockpit would not stop a pilot from locking the door and overpowering her with the same result.

Around half are really hopeful that he was a tea party member. Much like they hoped that for the Boston bombers, the CO movie shooter, Sandy Hook, etc.
